I just saw on the news that the power to the Jersey shore went out for a few hours. So what do people do, on there vacation/day getaway?

They loot the place!!!

People ransacked the boardwalk shops and game stands stealing bathing suits and carnival prizes.

What the "F" PEOPLE!?!?!

God forbid this happened in Disney Land. People in stolen Mickey Mouse costums jacking the cotton candy man.

What a world.

I was down in the Toms River/Seaside area over the long weekend (NO! I'm not a "benny"; that's where my boyfriend lives. I go down there to do laundry and get laid!). The power in his house went out for about 45 mins. No biggie. But Seaside got hit and they had to close the boardwalk. Considering the weather hasn't been great since Memorial Day, this was supposed to be the big holiday weekend.

On a more "local" note, my boyfriend lives off of Rt. 37 and Garfield. Fischer Blvd got hit. There are A LOT of restaurants, ice cream places, and delis that had to close down. That's lost money.

This happens every year, apparently. Sunday I went out for coffee and bagels and I heard people complain. It's like this every year! You'd think that in this day and age, they'd be able to provide enough electricity to serve the area.

I live the town next to Belmar.

Some here surely know of the drawbridges on the ocean and inland. In the summer, when the fishing boats go out and come in of the Shark River Inlet, the bridge is going up and down a lot, and it's basically traffic Hell.

They built a huge overpass type bridge there to replace the inland drawbridge; but its overdue, over budget, and as of now flowing only southbound.

Last week during the outages and at least one other time, one of the drawbridges has stuck in an open or half-open position. This is where it goes from Traffic Hell to Dangerous. If you need to get to a Hospital or something like that at times like these; you are basically screwed. Belmar has a winter population of a few thousand. On a good saturday; it can go to 50,000.

I can't even imagine Seaside. Belmar just basically gets packed solid, but theres no real boardwalk nightlife save for a few bars and late nite food joints no rides or arcades, it sucks. Sleaze-Side offers an awesomely decadent boardwalk scene. In a blackout; I'd take Belmar in a second.

And I live 2.2 miles from that Belmar bridge. Ugh.
