When I visited my old house in Mississippi a month after I moved back up north in '92, I was so bored I started reading my sister's magazines (cosmo, star, enquirer) that she left in the unfinished basement (the mags were from 1990!).

When I visited my mom in Alabama before she had cable t.v., I made my own chess set with PAPER!!

What stuff do you do when you're Bored?

Man this sounds SO science-nerd but I do science experiments.

I'm still blowing stuff up; grabbing stuff out of the ocean, dissecting stuff.

Last week I made a Hay Infusion. You take water from a lake; where theres grass and twigs, and I put some mulch [didn't have hay] from my lawn in it and into a flask and put it on the deck and cover it; every day I take Dr0ps from it and put it under a microscope: rotifers, volvox, paramecuim...

I don't do it anymore; but I could go to a chemical storehouse and, showing that I'm a teacher, I buy some fun stuff, like Elemental Sodium.

Pure sodium is metallic, shiny silver, but soft enough to cut with a butter knife. Whats so special about Elemental Sodium? If you put it in water; it ignites, and if you do it right, explodes. It's the very first Demo I do as a teacher.

And at parties.

Worst as a teacher; putting a bit too much in at parent's night; I ususally put in enough for a big bang and smoke ; this chunk of Sodium exploded, along with the Very Large Beaker it was in, and shot water 6 feet up; it hit a mirror suspended to show the reaction from above; the room was filled with smoke, they left quickly...

I loved it.

please create the perfect drug. you guys in the science community have made robots the size of dust particles, yet there's no soma (like in a brave new world). think about it, you get a "vacation" with out the expense and traffic of going to the shore.

Normally I'll rewatch an old DVD I haven't seen in a while or replay an old video game. But, the best thing to do is just lay in bed and listen to an old RnF show.

And if all else fails I might go outside and do something.

Watching movies, DVDs (I currently have about 6 DVDs that I haven't even watched yet, so I can break any of them out if needed)
There's always porn to watch, whether it's on tape or DVD, or if it's something I got of the internet.

If I feel active I'll go for a long ride, or take walks, or exercise, etc...
