WoW! I hate the heat!

I'm of Russian/Ukrainian descent. My people were built for cold weather. The sun is my enemy. I slather on the spf 30 before I head to work. If it weren't for AC I'd melt.

Don't get me wrong-- I'm glad it's no longer rainy and dreary. But I SO prefer summer evenings to hot, sticky, afternoons.

Anyone else hate the heat?

I walked about 5 minutes from the train station to the Globe today for work and was sweating like a mofo! Had to use the bathroom and dry myself off with papertowels when I got in.

I don't like to tan really, so I'm white as a ghost.

Im totally anti-heat. As soon as the temperature gets above 80 degrees I bust out the AC in my room. I cant stand the slightest heat.

I wish the weather could be 50-75 degrees and cloudy all the time. Thats the most comfortable weather to be in.

it all depends on what you have to do in the heat...

one thing i noticed: about two years back i helped a friend put in a fence on a hot day, say 95 and humid. we worked for approx 10 hours with few breaks inbetween, mixing cement, digging holes, etc. i got to a point where i had an excruciating/pounding headache and went home... i was starting to get really worried when i couldn't relieve the pounding... it eventually went away but since that day i've only been able to work out in the heat for a couple hours at a time til i start to experience the severe/pounding headache...
it makes me think i damaged something the day i helped put the fence in...

I never realized there were so many goddamn foreigners on this board. I'm an American. The A/C in my car decided to crap out this year, so it's windows down all the way to work. My best recent purchase however was my new air conditioner at home. It has a timer; you can program it to turn on at a certain time and have the house all chilly when you get home. I'm freeeezing!

I can't stand the heat either.

I'd much rather have a nice cool/cold day than a humid one. At least when it's cold you can put on a jacket and you're good to go, when you're hot you have to stop everything get near some air and get a drink and sit until you cool off.

Take Potassium pills. Or bannanas. Works great.
you get the headaches cause your losing water and minerals when your swetting.

Thanks for the suggestion! I do make a point of drinking gatorade and water, not sure if there's enough or any potassium in the gatorade. I'll check it out.

A side effect of my back and seizure medications (or combination of them) is that I'm hot nearly all the time. I usually wear shorts and a T-shirt around the house even in winter and the AC goes on March or April and stays on until November.

Humidity sucks too.

If you're cold you can always put on a jacket or sweatshirt. If you're hot, even with AC there's little you can do.
