Worst place where you went for vacation due to ads

I'm planning to go on a short trip to Pennsylvania (Longwood Gardens and the Railroad museum in Strasburg). Everytime I go somewhere I always pick-up the pamphlets that try and promote a certain or recreation/tourist spot. When I was in Fishkill,N.Y. last week I picked up some pamphlets that was in the hotel. To my surprise I saw one that promoted Keyport and Freehold in N.J. I didn't know that they were even tourist spots! I know advertisers usually give a distorted view of how an area/attraction looks like. Has anyone's experience not lived up to the hype of the ad or phamplet that promoted the place? Thanks.

There's an aquarium somewhere in Maine. I think it was Maine. The pamphlet said they had one of the largest sealife collections on the east coast. It was litterally a guy with two 100 gallon fish tanks and a small shark in his pool.

On our way south on I-95 we would see like 100 signs for South of the Border. It was a dump but it sure was a good place to leave one too. Don't worry if you get any on the bathroom floor (it's one of those kinda places)
