Allen Bauer is rescued from drowning as a young boy off Cape Cod by a young smelly Mexican. Years later he returns to the same location, and once again manages to fall into the sea, and is rescued once more by the young smelly Mexican.(Allen isn't sure what he's seen and what he's imagined). The young smelly Mexican decides to search for Allen in New York, disguised as a giant meal worm. On finding Allen, they fall in love, but he has a secret, which will no longer be a secret if Allen finds out he is not a giant meal worm but a young smelly Mexican. All and all this is a great movie and the special cameo of Charles Durning as the rodeo clown dying of cancer is especially tear jerking. I could have done without the man on man anal scene at the airport but that's just my own opinion. Director Akira Kurasawa has outdone himself and is finally understanding that American's hate that Japaneese crap. The only way this film could have been better is if it was called "The Money Pit"!
