Have you look to see if the hard drive is fragmented? Try running disk defragmenter in the accessories under system tools (if you're using windows).

yea man, do the basics. Defrag like reef said. Scan Disk, Anit Virus, and Spyware killer programs. And that's really just the basic shit you should have already been doing on a weekly to monthy basis in my opinion.

I mean, comps are expensive. Take care of the one you got, unless you're rich.

happened to me, it turns out i had too many unnecessary processes starting when I turned on my pc. When i did a CNTL/ALT/DEL and checked the task manager, i had at least 20 processes running. i had to "uncheck" or remove programs from my startup file...

the defrag and scandisk can only help but they did not resolve my problem, preventing processes from starting at startup did the trick... it depends on youe OS as to how to go about removing/unchecking processes on your startup file...

i have Windows 98SE

Defragment, delete unnessisary files, if you have kazaa, download kazaa lite, and get some spyware prevention software... basically what everyone said, but this should fix your problems.
