What did you do before the internet came along?

I slept more back in the day pre-internet explosion. I had to go to the library itself to do research and use the dewey card dicmal system (see I can't spell it anymore). I read books. I had to use the dictionary to spell words (didn't it annoy you when the teacher told you to look up the word in the dictionary to spell it? Duh!- If I don't know how to spell it, how do I look it up?). I bought cassette tapes and records (now I download my shit). What did you do before the internet came along?

I was 15 when I first got the internet back in '94...before that I wouldn't use a computer except for games and school reports (Commodore 64 and Amiga games RULE)...I mean, I was a kid, so I was always out playing...sports, all that stuff...watched my share of TV...

I am a child of the 70's. I remember watching a whole lot of MTV, and actually playing outside with friends. Pong was the first game I played as a kid- Two Ones going up and down the screen with a ball getting quicker and quicker- pretty primative. I hope the young of today don't spend all their time IMing each other, and go outside. Broad band is making it worse, you can talk face to face over a webcam and never leave your home.

Before I got into the Internet, I was a big X Files fan. here was a show that had a male and female co worker relationship and was totally non sexual and it was great! Then, they started messing with it and trying to add sexual tension and Scullys increasinly apparent attraction to Mulder and it ruined it for me! It pissed me off that a man and a woman can not work together without some sexual chemestry and they had to go and ruin it to get market share of a sex driven culture and I decided to stop watching ALL tv and got into the internet and I invested ina cable modem and have been TV free for 4 years now! All my entertainment now comes from this and movies I rent or radio or DVD's and reading books. Im a free man and Im actually very happy! I even have free access to cable tv (due to a neighbor) and I never hooked it up! I know..99% of you will think Im nuts, but Im serious, I dont need TV :)
