Guys: would you break up with your girl friend if she got fat?
There's a diverse range in ages so this should prove to be interesting.

only if she ate all the mallomars.
Define "fat". Are you talking about Janeane Garafolo-size or Rosie O'Donnell-size?

Janeane Garofolo is considered fat?
Well, I've heard some people describe her as fat. This morning Stern called Drew Barrymore fat. If those two are considered "fat", then I wouldn't dump them.
But if she blew up like Rosie did...

Being serious for once- No I wouldn't, It's whats in the inside that counts and even if her being attractive was the thing that attracted me in the beginning, it's the person's personality that causes me to stay with them. So NO. (Like girls don't do the same thing). All Style and No Substance = Not someone I would want to be with. And what's wrong with Jenny Grafalo anyway?

It really does depend on the woman. If she got fat, and lost her drive and complained that she was fat all the time, I'd tell her to do something about it and even help her, but if that doesn't work, then yes, I would dump her. As well as I would expect her to dump me. Now, if anyone needs me, I'll be in the gym.

It must be a pain in the ass to be a girl. The pressure to look good must be overwhelming.
It took me forever to realize that women are just as interested in looking good to other women as they are to looking good to men. I remember a scene from some movie where the mother was saying some shit to her daughter, something like "if you don't do this, you won't be invited to pretty girls parties." I was really floored by that line, it was so fucking cruel, but said so much about the human condition.
A guy can be fat and not worry about being ostracized by other guys. One of my colleagues at work is an attractive woman who managed to gain a lot of weight over the past year, and I know why: the pressure of work. Now she looks like Droopy Dog.
She mentioned that she will likely be engaged later this year and that her boyfriend was converting religion to marry her. Being the bastard that I am, I thought wow, he's going to marry her?
But you know what, I guess he loves her. You can always lose weight. No, I wouldn't dump a girl if she got fat. I'd tell her how sexy she is and that she would be even more sexy if she lost weight.

If my girl let's her self get OBESE, yes. But she is skinny and it depends how smelly&sweaty fat you're talkin about. If she can't wipe her ass I would have to break up with her.
I've gained a few pounds since my sigpic but I don't think I'm as fat as I am "out of shape"

Guys: would you break up with your girl friend if she got fat?
If Im going out with her because of her looks/body and she got beastly fat, then yes.
If Im going out with her because of her personality or something and she got beastly fat, possibly no but probably yes.
If Im going out with her at all and she gains 5-10 pounds, no, well probably not.

No, I wouldn't.
I'm married, and my wife is very attractive and in great shape. I intend to be her for the rest of my life. I married her with the understanding that as the two of us grow older, physical beauty will fade. If I am lucky enough to grow old with this woman, I know that at some point down the line, no matter how well she ages, she will some day look like an old woman (and I of course will look like an old man). There's no way that I would leave my wife just because she ages (although there are many men out there who do leave their wives for this very reason). Putting on weight isn't much different. If it's the person you are in love with, things like weight really shouldn't matter.
If you are in a relationship based solely on the physical, however, your mileage may vary.

This is a tough one , it depends on the amount of weight and the additude. By that I mean what is she doing about it? I have dated ladies that gain a little and do nothing but complain about it while eating more cookies. Its not the weight that gets me its the lack of drive or motivation to do something about it that makes me lose respect for someone. It might sound shallow but how many girls know they have gained weight and ask if they look fat because they'er sure your not enough of a dick to say yes. If you noticed it the guy your with noticed it last week.

if she's still got something resembling an hourglass, then no. if the skin hangs off her chin like an elephant, then yes. hell-fuckin-yes. also, visible cottage cheese, yes. but most importantly, if she doesnt have the will to lose the weight, then she aint gotta go home, but she gotta get the fuck outta here.

Morbidly obese, yes because that would probably mean there were other issues there, unless she realized she needed help and was seeking it. If it was just normal weight gain, and she wasn't miserable about it, then no...ain't nothin' wrong with meat AND potatos!

At what point in the relationship is the fat being "gotten"? If we had just been married or dating a couple months and she suddenly blows up 50+ pounds, yeah, sure, we'll have to talk. I wouldn't dump her right away, but I'd start insisting she came along with me on my workouts. Y'know, we can go to the gym, go swimming, running...the point is, we could do it together. I wouldn't just drop her on her ass.
Like it was said, if I was just in it for the sex, of course, let's be honest, I'm outta there Flash-style.
But if it's even remotely serious, I'd see how I can fix things. And this isn't me being a pig or anything. I'm a healthy person. I wouldn't want to be around someone that rampantly unhealthy. I'd be too worried about what was happening to them. Hence why I'd try to help.
If we're talking 30+ into a marriage, sure, eat all you want. I'll probably be a mess at that point, too.

I would hope not. I would hope I'd get serious with a girl because of more than her looks. And since I am less than perfect, I cannot demand perfection from someone else.
But that's in a perfect world, which we are far from.

First I counter with this: Would the ladies leave their husband or boyfriend due to lack of motivation, job or financial stability? I've seen this so many times with friends of late due to layoffs and it truly pisses me off. Yet this isn't considered shallow? As for the original question, McNabb stated simply what Mojo elaborated on. You will find the truth behind your relationship with your man using this harshest of tactics. If he was only into the sex and looks, it's obvious what will happen and most younger guys are at this stage in life. For others it's a not as clear and the man may find they weren't into the person as much as they thought. If you are truly in love, of course not, at first. However, like Mojo stated, lifestyle is extremely important in relationships. If this occured in my life, we simply wouldn't get along as well and things would deteriorate slowly over time. I am extremely active and competitive, hence things usually wouldn't fit.
As for this: Being serious for once- No I wouldn't, It's whats in the inside that counts and even if her being attractive was the thing that attracted me in the beginning, it's the person's personality that causes me to stay with them. So NO. (Like girls don't do the same thing). All Style and No Substance = Not someone I would want to be with. And what's wrong with Jenny Grafalo anyway?
They were asking men mr55. Seriously, I need the puke bucket over here Stuart Smalley. And what is wrong with Grafalo? I ask, What is right? Attitude, comedy, or looks? Without Stiller we wouldn't have seen or heard from her for years. She plain sucks!
