View Full Version : Don't tell a hot chick she lost weight

Today I noticed that one of the girls at work was looking quite svelte. In the 'hood, we might refer to her as a "fly girl."
I was tempted to tell her she lost some weight, but my common sense kicked in REAL fast: if I tell her she lost weight, it's like saying that she was fat before. Not a good idea, correct?

Not to be harsh, but I believe if you're still using words like "svelte" than she's automatically out of your league.
That said though, you can say it in a better way like "Hey, have you done something different with your look?" If she replies "why do you ask?", you could then say, "I don't know what it is that you've done but you're even more attractive than you already were!"
Or my favorite is "Okay, you're gonna have to stop, because if you keep coming in here like you are lately...then I'm gonna be up on charges REAL soon" generally they blush and I'm the darling of the office. But then again I'm adoreable to begin with.

"still" using? I don't get it. Is "svelte" an immature word?

Using words regular people can't understand or using words not in normal vernacular = instant kiss of death when trying to strike up a conversation.
How would YOU react if someone you didn't know too well started a conversation using strange words? "svelte" isn't strange, but it's definitely worth a "Did you just eat a thesaurus?" look from another person.

not at all. the point i was making, which was mostly in jest - though is that generally a word like "svelte" comes off as old old fashioned, and not so hip. so when you use it on a hot chick.
it's sort've like when someone says "hey can i make a mimeograph of that?" instead of "can i get a copy of that" - what's that all about???

I always like hearing that I've lost weight even if I haven't. I guess some girls might get touchy about it though. Just give her some other kind of compliment like the other's suggested and don't focus on the weight thing. Flattery will get you a long way with some people.

If she turns a compliment into an insult in her sick twisted fucked up mind, then your best bet is to stay the fuck away from her.

Fatass is right.
If she's so self-loathing she can't take a compliment, it's not worth the time or the effort.

I use old fashioned words too. Not like Im trying to show off or anything, sometimes there just is not any other word that will do. Thus, Im a wall flower. I did get reamed out a few times for saying a woman looks as though she lost weight and I learned my lesson long ago. Now I just say "I like that blouse" or "did you change your hair?" There is an older women supervisor in my office that wears black stockings and white sandals. I aint saying 'nuttin!
I love smart girls ;p
