hi all
i am an irish guy living in london, england
and got into ron and fez after one of my new york friends got hooked and continually raved about the boys

their topics can be very local (wrestling, football, sopranos, network tv) but the boys paint their humour so well, it translates to international appeal

there is absolutely nothing similar on radio in ireland or england, talk radio is nascent and focuses on sport, love interests, problems and absolutely no laughter

just wondering if there are any other international fans on the board

Thanks for stopping in.

I got a question, most Irish people I meet are either Celtic or Man U supporters, do you fall into either, other or none?

hi guys to answer your questions

barramacanbhaird - "barra" "mac an bhaird" - it is my name in irish, it means "spear" "son of the baird (travelling poet / musician), it is nice to have such a discriptive name, my english name is really boring

Wormwood you are correct, everybody in ireland has an affinity for glasgow celtic in scotland, but their league is very dull and don't have fervent irish supporters, but they are seen as a real irish identity team, so alot of the irish abroad support a scottish team, so as to assertive their irishness??

the Man U are huge, i reakon about 60% of people support them, the other 40% hate them, people say they support ABU - anybody but united. anyhow everybody watches them either out of love or hate - i fall into the ABU category, the banter is like a 2 team city

so far i have got nobody to listen, they associate radio with background music and radio shows here are usually 1 to 2 hours long, they really can't fathom 4 and now 5 hours, of comedy radio ,
<p />
also in england (where i live) there can be alot of hostility to the usa , they buy all you software, music, consumer products, tv, corporate stuff but many feel that americans are not bright enough to hold a conversation.
it is weird, i think it is an inferiority complex

They are probably still upset that we kicked their butts in the Revolutionary War.

But it is nice to see an international presence on the board. Welcome to the nonsense that is RonFez.net!

I'm occasionally in Switzerland or Holland or Hong Kong on contracts, but only for a couple of months at a time.

Now I'm in New Jersey, which isn't a separate country, but should be.

Welcome to the Board!

I'm an Inter Milan fan, but that's another story...

As far as Celtic...just remember that when we mention the Rangers on this Board, we are most likely referring to hockey!

The Chairman - how unlucky were inter milan in the champions league , losing to ac milan at the san siro on "away goals" - aaah

and furie - Ayax have some really exciting years ahead as their team matures, they are so young, i'm not sure the glory years of "complete football" will return, because of the limited finances in the dutch league, but they are looking good

Where? Where the FUCK is this heaven you speak of? Are the fish and chips pretty true to how they are served in England? I wanna go back to London this year. Curses to my sister who is going to Vegas with her boyfriend.

And a big welcome Barramacanbhaird. I loved London when I was there last year and became damn near obsessed with the Underground Subway system.

If you ever get to the City Hotel which is close to the Aldgate East Underground Station in the East London area, say hey to the beautiful Czech girl who was just beautiful and I was too chicken to say anything. DAMN IT ALL! She even said "I come to U S A and look for you in New Jersey!" Just my luck!

I also hate how the record stores kept their vinyl where it was just the jackets in the racks and the records were behind the counter. The jackets were all fucked up.

Camden Town market was awesome and great food there too.

As far as British TV goes, you watch Coupling at all? Funny as shit. US version in the Fall on NBC here. The Office is pretty good too.

Welcome and Cheers!

i travelled in eastern europe back in 1995, and there were more beautiful women in the czech republic and slovacia, than anywhere on this planet.
i was travelling with a very funny guy from vancouver called rob, the girls were obsessed with north americans, represented a post communist goal / movie glamour, you should not have been shy, they are a really friendly people and rob had many sexploits

and the london underground system can be really cool, they started building it in 1880, so there are some amazing archecture from victorian, bauhaus, to modern - the underground system in moscow, was build with grandure in mind and it can be really impressive

but underground does not offer much in term of views, personally i like the chicago rail transport system, raised on rivet metal and wood structures that follow the street pattern underneath it, so the trains have to take 90 degree turns, feels like a rollercoaster - a 1930s skytrain

Actually, I just went to an Irish style pub in New Jersey yesterday and got Potato and Leek soup with bacon and cheddar melted on the top, and Fish and Chips for the main meal. Sweet ass sweet.

i would not recognise this meal, that actually sounds nice, irish food must be the most boring in the world. all food is either boiled or fried, main meals are meat and 2 vegitables, while catering for the taste sensations provided by salt and pepper, with the only additional flavouring off gravy.

but saying that in my grandparents generation, about 60% of there food intake was potatoes, with the remainder being porridge, bread and a little vegetables with meat once a week

Yup. They both play home games in the same stadium and played to a tie. Inter lost cause for the game they were considered the "home team" and of the rule that away goals carry more weight in a tie.
(I say this not to you but to explain to others who might not know this interesting soccer rule...imagine if this applied to the NY Jets/Giants at The Meadowlands arena, for example.

The good news (for me, at least) is that an Italian team did go on to win the Cup, and it was AC Milan. Better an Italian arch rival than a team like Man U (sorry Man U. fans.)
