I finally got a job the other day putting together the comic/advertisement section of the sunday newspaper. I go in saturday mornings for 2 hours, take the comics from one bundle and put it together with the advertisements from a second bundle. And I get 15 bucks for just doing that. Easy as 1, 2, 3, A, B, C.
So I figured I'd ask what job everybody else had during high school or college or post-college or post-high school if you didnt go to college. And what was the pay like? Am I getting jipped here with only 15 bucks for 2 hours?
(I didnt know if this should go in old school or the confessional so I dropped it here.)

My first real paying job I worked at American Express in the World Financial Center. I was making close to $400 every two weeks which was like hitting the jackpot to a sixteen year old. It was a high school internship setup so it's not like I was just lucky.

My first job was working in a lab at Harvard Medical School the
summer after my freshman year in college. I think I was
making about $150 a week. That ruled.
Boy, if only graduate school paid me that much.

I had the usual gamut of after school jobs- supermarket, card shop, drug peddler etc. My first real job was when I enlisted in the Coast Guard after high school(to get out of the draft) I think I made 6 cents a day then!!!

My first job was as a camp counselor at a summer day camp. It was fun despite all those annoying little kids I had to look after. There plenty of hot other female camp counselors. It made the job worth it. The pay was like 5.15 an hour for 6 hours of work a day. We didn't have to work on Fridays so it was pretty cool. :)

i worked for this older Lithuanian couple in their house on Varick St, Jersey City. I had to be 14 and made 1.25 an hour. The husband had me cut out articles from Newspapers and Magazines that he had circled. I'm not sure what he did with them but I thought he sold them to other publishers.
One time the wife asked if my Dad could drive me and her to NY to see MacArthur and she would treat me to a dinner at Tad's Steaks. She didn't seem to be in the best of health and my Dad agreed.
She used to do this one thing that always bugged me, she would smack her lips together and they always made that "squirty/smacky" sound.
They were nice people but it was a bit wierd back then and it still seems wierd today. A classmate had got me the job, when he didn't want it anymore...
