I'm quite surprised that this event has not become a thread so I've decided to start one. Here is my overview/preview for this important night in the history of NWA-TNA.
::Some things to look for:
**The Asshole/Extreme Section and The Heel Section
The A-Hole/Extreme Section are a bunch of guys from New York and other parts of the coast that are huge TNA fans that include the Johnny Knoxville wannabe and get a lot of camera time because they are in the front row. While the Old School fans, The Heel Section are the evil corner of smart marks that you see wearing their moniker on their t-shirts (one week Kash wore their shirts). They tend to go quiet when the fan favorites are around and pop wildly for the heels. One week they had "SMACKDOWN SPOILERS" in sign form and gave away the results. Gotta love how the A-Hole Section drowns out the rest of the crowd with their annoying chants and the Heel Section looking pissed every week.
**Shark Boy and New Jack
TNA's version of The Odd Couple! The past few weeks they have played Candyland and Twister and hilarity ensued. What are they going to do this week?
::They have some angles/storylines to further:
**Shane Douglas and Raven
"The Franchise" Shane Douglas screwed Raven from winning his destiny, the NWA World Title last week. You know Raven and his Gathering are gonna get some retribution but how? But let's not forget about Amazing Red. He took out Raven a few weeks ago and then the following week, Raven took out his cousins, the SAT. Will they be in attendance this week?
**"6'6 and Dreamy" Mr. Xplosion Erik Watts with Goldylocks and Trinity vs. Kid Kash and Abyss (first of all that was not Mideon, that is the name of the monster that attacked Watts last week backstage and in the ring. He worked in Dutch Mantell's IWA promotion in Puerto Rico.)
Kash is also going to rename him this Wednesday, what will that be? What will Watts, one of TNA's brightest stars have planned for Kash and his henchman?
CONFIRMED MATCHES
**D-Lo Brown, The Sandman & Frankie "The Future" Kazarian vs. "Ace in the Hole" Sonny Siaki, "Heavy D" Don Harris and "The Master of the Spinebuster" David Young
Should be a pretty decent 6 Man contest that will pit what they call "tradition" vs. three members of everyone's favorite faction, S.E.X. Will Sandman get a piece of Siaki's ass after the impromptu beer bath he received?
**HARD 10 SEMIFINAL: Mike Sanders vs. New Jack
Mike Sanders was the first ever to win a match in the Hard 10 Tournament (against Mike Awesome) and has all the confidence in the world but has he met his match against Extreme Revolution's own New Jack?
**Justin Credible vs. Jerry Lynn
These two have some bad blood between themselves since their days in ECW and have come to a boiling point. Should be a solid match between these two hardcore veterans.
**TNA X-DIVISION TITLE MATCH: Chris Sabin vs. Paul London
Paul London is the number one contender and will get his shot against S.E.X. member Chris Sabin this week. This might be the match of the night and outside chance of being a candidate for Match of the Year. Expect high spot after high spot and huge bumps. Will the Future Shock outclass London Calling?
**NWA TAG TEAM TITLE MATCH: Triple X ("Fallen Angel" Christopher Daniels, "Prime Time" Elix Skipper and Low-Ki) vs. America's Most Wanted ("The Wildcat" Chris Harris and "The Tennessee Cowboy" James Storm)
Has all the elements of being a great tag team championship match. Arguably, the two best tag teams in the short history of the NWA-TNA go at it one more time after AMW won the Asylum Alliance Tournament. Will TNA's best pure tag team, AMW survive the "X-Division/Tag Team Dream Team"? Will the "Angel's Wings" (spinning Pedigree), "New School" (Skipper's walking the ropes into a hurricanrana) dominate or will "The 8 Second Ride", "The Catatonic" and "The Death Sentence" prevail in the end? Are AMW on the same page after all of th

After almost a month of hype for this show, you would think they would have had more surprises. After last week with the announcement of Sting being on the show and teaming with Jarrett against Styles and a MYSTERY partner, I would think they would have pulled out all the stops to get some huge name as Styles' partner. But who instead do we get? Sean "I Suck" Waltman. Yes that's right, Syxx, X-Pac, Pac, X, Lightning Kid, 1-2-3 Kid whatever the fuck you want to call him was the big mystery partner for AJ Styles. Why? Who in the hell knows. Seems like he was a last minute replacement.
Blah... X-Pac sucks!!!X-Pac sucks!!!X-Pac sucks!!!X-Pac sucks!!!X-Pac sucks!!!X-Pac sucks!!!X-Pac sucks!!!X-Pac sucks!!!X-Pac sucks!!!X-Pac sucks!!!X-Pac sucks!!!X-Pac sucks!!!X-Pac sucks!!!X-Pac sucks!!!X-Pac sucks!!!X-Pac sucks!!!X-Pac sucks!!!

This was the first NWA PPV that I've ordered. Mainly because of the hype of it bein' the 1 year Anniversary. And because I wanted too see how Sting looked.
It wasn't a bad show. Held my interest for the 2 hours. Best match was the X-Title match between champ Chris Sabin and Paul London. Good moves by both with Sabin retaining. Actually no titles changed hands. Doesn't matter to me, since I'm not familiar with the program.
Sting looked good. Got a huge pop, and did all his signature moves. He was in his "Crow" outfit (with the bat).
Sean (X-Pac) Waltman sucked (as usual) and heavyweight champ AJ Styles did little to impress. He also seems kinda small to be a heavyweight.
It was nice to see old faves like Raven, Shane Douglas, D-Lo, Perry Saturn, & Jeff Jarrett.
Would I buy another PPV from NWA? Maybe. Depends on the card. Although, for an anniversary show, it seemed like a normal show.
So there ya go ;)
Take it easy Clarky

heavyweight champ AJ Styles did little to impress. He also seems kinda small to be a heavyweight.who6489, he maybe small but he is a phenomenal high-flyer but didn't show his trademark repertoire of moves this week. He is weak on the mic but he will get it in time. The crowd loves the guys and who cares about size or being a heavyweight... what about HBK?
....
Before everything else, what a disappointment in the mystery partner! Since it has come and gone, I'll let you know what was planned. My reliable source told me that they were in the works to have Macho Man appear but I guess last minute it fell through. Syxx-Pac does have legit heat with Russo and that was big, I guess.
I knew about an Asian wrestler from the Orient coming in and a return but didn't expect this relative unknowner and Saturn.
There was no plans to have Jeff Hardy although calls were made. He should be in TNA eventually but not right now.
Now my other observations of the Anniversary Show:
-How could Shane Douglas afford a limo?
-The crowd was electric as expected!
-The new set looks great (the old one was horrible) but they need to work on intro videos. Borash, get to it bud! Also not to nit-pick but when S.E.X. or the Extreme Revolution appears under the rampway could you have their logos be on those two screens instead of the TNA logo?
-The Asshole Section was smaller than expected, what?!?
-The 6 man tag match was a great starting point. The Siaki-Sandman angle continues to get more heated! Great to see Sting with baseball bat and Jarrett with guitar clear out S.E.X. Sting got a tremendous pop as expected!
-Russo and AJ in-ring segment was hot. AJ is different from all the others in the Asylum? Whatever AJ. You knew D-Lo was going to confront Russo and his former tag team partner and the exchange was awesome.
-I'm not feeling Bitch Slap (Tracy and Victoria)! But who knows.
-The X-Division Title Match between London and Sabin was off the charts (London's running shooting star press, reverse hurricanrana, Sabin's variations with the facebuster as well as the Future Shock and London Calling were huge high spots) as expected but CM Punk had to interfere screwing the clean finish. "Mr. Pepsi" did in fact do an impressive impression of Raven and will be a great member of Raven's Gathering... in time.
-Gotta love TNA's Odd Couple, Shark Boy with the oversized Hulk hands and New Jack! The Asylum loves these guys as do I!
-The Sanders and New Jack Hard 10 Match was solid. Gotta love New Jack's Hulk gloved shot to Sanders onto the table for the victory to advance into the finals against the winner of Siaki-Sandman. Side note, the Heel Section's "WASH YO ASS!" ... very funny shit!
-Nice video package of Trinity... wow, she was in swimwear for once, very nice.
-Credible and Lynn was alright but too short. This angle is gonna go on for a lil longer than I thought. "JUSTIN ASSHOLE" chant was great.
-Loved the BG James as Mike Tenay interview with Konnan and the Truth. Pretty blatantly racist with the "fried chicken" and "Taco bell dog" but damn entertaining! And the blunt reference was funny to end the segment.
-The NWA Tag Team Title Match was phenomenal! Low-Ki with a sling helped Triple X retain their titles and next week, first ever in the TNA Asylum... Steel Cage match for the NWA Tag Team Title belts! "Rockbuster' potential!
-Watts is the best on the mic in TNA! Goldylocks chained inside with Abyss was great! Save me Eric, lol. I really want to know if this "Eric' is him or someone who's really name is Eric? Kash didn't name him... what do you know?
-Nobody wanted X-Pac in the Main Event but the match was solid nonetheless. When Russo announced Syxx and he didn't appear for a while I thought Macho would run down instead but to no avail! Seeing Raven, Sting and Jarrett raising each other's hands in a sign of unity was unexpected but very cool!

Is Sting there for a show or 2 or did he sign some type of contract with NWA. If the WWE worked out a deal with Goldberg you have to figure they could work out a deal for someone that people like like Sting. I expect him in WWE by Summerslam. I would rather see him with the spiked hair and colorful face paint than the stale crow gimmick.

I would rather see him with the spiked hair and colorful face paint than the stale crow gimmick. My reliable source is unable to confirm a long term deal but he says he will be on TNA for "a good length of time". That could mean a few weeks or months. And if you read Tenay's column he did not go into specifics either.
Bro, I have to disagree with having the old Sting. The crow Sting with the baseball bat has to be one of my favorite gimmicks of all-time. As a TNA smart mark, I would hate it to see him sell out to the WWE like everyone else! The only icon in professional wrestling never to jump ship off of NWA/WCW!
WWE Summerslam is a possibility for him but I just don't think he would do that! Please Sting, don't!

-This was the first TNA PPV I saw in a while.
-The 6 man tag match was a great starting point. The Siaki-Sandman angle continues to get more heated! Great to see Sting with baseball bat and Jarrett with guitar clear out S.E.X. Sting got a tremendous pop as expected!
Why waste Sting coming out for a little clear out in the beginning. Why not build the anticipation for him for the end of the show. Make it more special.
Russo and AJ in-ring segment was hot. AJ is different from all the others in the Asylum? Whatever AJ. You knew D-Lo was going to confront Russo and his former tag team partner and the exchange was awesome.
This sucked. Russo looks a little like Dennis Miller now. This was absolutely pointless this segment. Doesn't TNA understand everytime you talk about WWE it brings to light that NWA is Number 2 in a 2 horserace. It reminds me of the dying days of WCW. And Vince did make the right decision. Dlo is nothing more than a midcarder. The only good thing he ever did was be in the nation of Domination. And the dumb fuck broke Droz's neck. And AJ Style's is not a heavyweight. He does not belong as a Heavyweight. For a WWE example it would be like giving Matt Hardy the WWE heavyweight belt. I don't think so. He is very talented but he belongs in the X division.
"Mr. Pepsi" did in fact do an impressive impression of Raven and will be a great member of Raven's Gathering... in time.
Best match of the night.
-Gotta love TNA's Odd Couple, Shark Boy with the oversized Hulk hands and New Jack! The Asylum loves these guys as do I!
This was ok but such a blatant ripoff of Booker T and Goldust.
The Hulk hands was good but this hard 10 match sucks. Mike Sanders sucks as a wrestler. Be a manager.
-Nice video package of Trinity... wow, she was in swimwear for once, very nice.
I expect her in WWE before the end of the year. She could be really big as a WWE diva. Kind of like trish Stratus.
Credible and Lynn was alright but too short. This angle is gonna go on for a lil longer than I thought. "JUSTIN ASSHOLE" chant was great.
This match sucked. Why even have it if it is only going to be 2 minuteslong. WWE made a big mistake getting rid of Lynn. They made teh right decision getting rid of Credible.
Loved the BG James as Mike Tenay interview with Konnan and the Truth. Pretty blatantly racist with the "fried chicken" and "Taco bell dog" but damn entertaining! And the blunt reference was funny to end the segment.
This was funny. What was the point of it on the 1 year Anniversary show though.
--The NWA Tag Team Title Match was phenomenal! Low-Ki with a sling helped Triple X retain their titles and next week, first ever in the TNA Asylum... Steel Cage match for the NWA Tag Team Title belts! "Rockbuster' potential!
Excellent match. Way too damn short. Get rid of all those stupid segments and half hour russo interviews and this could have been a very good show.
-Watts is the best on the mic in TNA! Goldylocks chained inside with Abyss was great! Save me Eric, lol. I really want to know if this "Eric' is him or someone who's really name is Eric? Kash didn't name him... what do you know?
Erik Watts sucks.
