I went grocery shopping today and out of the blue I noticed that there were no paper bags. Then I went to another store and all they had were plastic bags. Are the plastic bags they make now bio-degradeble? Also, remember when they used to sell soda cans by the 6 pack-the plastic rings that held the cans together, do they still have that or is everything now in 12 pk. boxes.

When I used to work in a supermarket the paper bags were more expensive and a bundle of paper bags weighed about 30 pounds so none of the cashiers wanted to bring them out.

Todd I do the same thing. It makes the bags eaier to carry and they don't break. When I am done with them I use them when I scoop out my cat's litter box. I don't want that stuff to spill all over the place.

Paper and plastic works best.
Anybody ever see people that bring their own bags (mostly on TV shows)? Nerds.

the main reasons i like paper is because it holds more items, and keeps them together better or more stable...
plus when I have a fire in the fireplace i like to stuff a paperbag full of kindling and set a log or two on top... the bag helps to ignite the kindling...

The Shoppers Food Warehouse down here in the D.C. metro area (I don't know if the chain is where you live) used to charge for their bags, so I would bring my own to get out of paying the extra buck or so. But I quit when they stopped the charge.
I agree, paper and plastic work good together. I use paper for my fragile items (bread, eggs, chips, etc) and plastic for just about everything else. The bags make good trash bags for your trash cans as well.

I once heard that few, if any, of the people who ask for 'paper' are women.
