in 1 month. But I wouldn't be surprised if it was sooner. After all, George has to get the Mets off the headlines after firing Steve Philips. But what a run by Joe. How long do you think it will take George to re-hire Torre again?

If the yankees did fire Torre who would they get to replace him, looks at the mets when they fired their last head coach, nothing happened. I think the Torre at least as two more seasons if the yankees either fail to make the playoffs or lose in the playoffs. If the yankees at least make it to the world series his job is safe by one to two more years

are you guys serious? they are in a goddamn pennant race....or do you guys just expect the yankees to win the east by 12 games every year. That is ridiculous to think that they'll fire him now....many of the players love Torre and if George was to turn on him this quickly (after winning 4 of 6 world series and getting to game 7 of another) what would they think about the loyalty that is supposed to exist in the organization....firing Torre now shows no loyalty and would be the demise of the Yankees

Is this the same Torre that I have heard numerous fans call a 'genius'

who needs a sig pic?

He'll "retire" after another first-round exit this postseason.

I agree. I think that he will step down on his own at the end of the season.

I remember when George first hired Torre (after firing Buck) many fans were in an uproar (me included), due to Torre's previous coaching stints with non winning teams. (See the connection). It wasn't until Torre came to the Yankees that he became a Genius. Who does Torre have to be thankful for that? George of course! What an ingrate Torre is, give credit to where credit is due and say thanks George for giving me a channce and walk away.

There's no way Torre's going to be fired this season, if at all. Even though George is a blubbering idiot, he knows enough not to fire a manager the fans actually care about. His contract ends after next season. That's when I think he'll leave. Unless, of course, the Yanks finish only 2 games ahead in the East this year, and make it to the ALCS. If that happens, the shit's gonna hit the fan.

If Joe isn't fired on the heels of the biggest collapse in baseball history, he'll never be fired.

I'm sure George regrets it now, but you don't fire a manager you owe $22-23 million over the next 9 years ($19.2mil in '05, '06, & '07 plus $5-600K as a consultant through 2013).

A deal that rivals Giambi in its awfulness..

True, a manager making $6-7 million per year is beyond ridiculous, but at least for Torre you could almost consider it backpay. All of Giambi's numbers that warranted his contract are with Oakland.

Torre should definitly be fired. He proved he is not a good manager. There were many f-ups that were Torre's fault. Not bunting against Schilling, Bringing in mariano to pitch 2 innings in game 4. Not starting Mussina in Game 4 and going for the kill. 1 mistake after another and most of it goes on Joe Torre. Bring in Bobby valentine.

They obviously don't want Willie Randolf. Donnie will be the next manager.
