Now I know before hand that soon after I post this this thread will likely degenerate into a discussion about how Sting is old and shouldn't be around anymore.
But as I've stated before, Sting is one of my all-time favorite wrestlers. When I first started watching wrestling, he was the guy - over Hogan, Savage, Hart, etc. - who I really marked for. I've ALWAYS been a fan of the man, and I was quite afraid that he would wind up going to the WWE and work for Vince. That would have been very unfortunate, as not only would Vince totally misuse him, but it'd make Steve something of a hypocrite, given his personal views on the WWE's product (although I suppose if Foley can come back, anyone is willing to sell a bit of their dignity for the right price).
But it seems as if a Sting run in the WWE may be put off for a while, as Sting appears to have signed with NWA: TNA!
Mike Tenay just announced on the NWA: TNA PPV that former WCW star Sting will appear on the TNA First Anniversary Show next Wednesday night on PPV.
Tenay did not say what Sting would be doing and whether he would actually wrestle.
Sting has been rumored off and on to be headed to WWE, but nothing has worked out between the two sides. Since WCW's end, Sting's highest profile work has been with the WWA promotion.
He seems to be signed, and should show up next week in time for NWA's big one year anniversary show.
Personally, I'm very pleased with this news. Because I'm a huge Sting fan, but also because I still think that Sting has some worth left in the business. He could be an asset to NWA - namely being a well-known face on the roster and also helping put over some of the younger guys like D-Lo or Styles.
