no wonder alot of kids are fat pudgy monsters. every other meal is a supersized dose of fast food. but what really makes kids lazy these days are these bookbags that they have. instead of carrying them on their backs, now they roll them like a piece of luggage going through an airport. further evidence of the pussification of americas youth

Kinda makes you think when the #1 rapper is white and the #1 golfer is black

Agreed. As a fellow youth, you'd get fucked up at my school if you rolled one of those gay things.

I've also noticed that a lot of the fat kids' mother smoked while they were prenant. That seems to be the case I see around here.

I'll readily agree kids are fatter, lazier and more spoiled than ever before these days, but what the hell does this have to do with anything? You still have to pull it, it allows you to carry more, and quite frankly, I wish I had been smart enough to think of it when I was in school. Hauling 6 classes worth of books and supplies and notebooks around for 8 hours doesn't make you smarter or tougher...just a sucker with an aching back.

it's not about being lazy. carrying around a lot of books can be hell on your back. especially in the case of backpacks, where you really don't feel the weight because it's distributed evenly. i think those wheely bags are a great thing, might save a lot of people from back problems.

i suffered some fairly serious neck problems due to carrying a massive amount of stuff back and forth from school each day. i have a wheely bag now, and it really helps.

Accually mojo, 'round these parts you're not allowed to carry around backpacks during classes because it "causes hallway congenstion". The only reason I have one is so I can haul those textbooks home for a big ass night of homework. In my school, we are allowed to go to our lockers anytime we want. Thank god school ends Wendsday.

oh, and not to be a post whore, but Arienette, those wheely thingys are good for travel, but when you are walking in crowded hallways, someone's gonna trip and fuck up their face.

Arienette, those wheely thingys are good for travel, but when you are walking in crowded hallways, someone's gonna trip and fuck up their face.well, maybe i could see that in a high school or something.. it's been a while since i've been in one of those. where i go to school, it's really not a problem. a lot of people have them, and we just walk through the hallways with them, and everyone's faces are intact.

Yeah, I only saw these at college, where it made sense. High school you can use your locker and not have to run all the way home for your books.

i have soon to be 13 and 11 year old daughters... believe me their backpacks can be "very heavy"... the 13 year old also plays softball for the middle school so she also carries the additional sports bag with bat, cleats, spikes, glove, and a few softballs. they don't have a place to keep it in school so she lugs it back and forth each day they have practice or a game...

their are times when the 11 year old has to bring just about every book she has, home...
i'd say the backpack weighs at the least 20 pounds... not bad once it's on your back but getting it on and off is a bit of a hassle...

So it's a BAD thing that there are more targets for bullies than ever...but also a bad thing that the bullies can't pick on them or are told not to? Make up your mind, slapdick.

I've got no problem with the bags with wheels. Books
will fuck up your back big time. I wish I had one of
those bags in law school. Have you ever seen the size
of a Constitutional Law or Civil Procedure textbook?

Funkman, that's gotta suck for your daughters. I know that some teachers allow students to get an extra copy of a text book so you dont have to lug it home everyday. Try and get those textbooks.

come on, shitbreak. my point was society is so pussified that kids can't develop their "thick skin" bc the bullies can't do their "jobs." the result- when they enter the future adult real world, there's an ass-kicking they're not prepared for.

did you play the al duke's version of dodge ball in elementary school? indian pin or some shit?

What IS the deal with Indian pin dodge ball? I still don't get how that works. REAL dodge ball is still the greatest sport known to man and the only reason gym class should exist.

And I don't see a problem with bullies now having "work". I found out after the fact I was a "bully" to more than a fair share of kids I went to school with over the years, and I still feel kinda shitty about it. There's nothing that knocking kids into lockers and yanking their shorts off in the commons prepares them for in the "real world". Unless they go into a really, REALLY shitty line of work.

Kids in school constantly bust balls and give each other shit. Bullies just take it to that extra obnoxious and unecessary level. It's not like kids are running around being all nicey-nice to each other without bullies. Kids are still the biggest pricks on the planet. And it's not even like bullies don't still exist. In fact, what the hell are you even arguing about again?

You didn't have any lockers?

Not in college. Which is the only place where I came across the luggage-rollers. I didn't know it had spread to the lower grades. Which doesn't make much sense given how cramped those hallways usually are.

mojo

i think i remeber al discribing the game as the main strategy being trying to knock over a pin near the end line on each side. someone would guard it, but by the time a dodge ball came anywhere near the guard, the ball lost all it's gas. thus, why al guarded.

back in the day, dodgeball was the great equalizer. ronnie has said it on many occasions. but you can't play it anymore. and thus, america pussified.

bullies can't do their work these days for the same reason. we can't alienate anyone; everyone is special and equal, but if you threaten the system by trying to create the natural hierarchy, you are a threat to the system. and socialization training is the repremend, not a good old fashion ass kicking by your parents.

i tooled on kids when i was younger and got tooled on by the bigger kids. in my day, if you called a kid a fag, you write, "i will not say fag" 500x; today it's a 2 week program to understand the people you offended.

No offense, but backpacks today weigh a LOT--a lot more than you carried when you went to school.

My kids regularly come home with full backpacks AND an armload of books that wouldn't fit in the backpack.

My oldest kid is almost 20 now. One of the funnier memories I have of her school day is of her at a first grader. She was the one cursed to go to Catholic school. Just a wisp of a girl, her backpack often weighed more than she did--I know, because we weighed it one day.

She was undaunted. She knew she had to carry that backpack.

One day she lifted her foot to enter the school bus, and FELL BACKWARD because the weight of her backpack pulled her down. She landed backpack-first. Unhurt, I ran up to her and unloaded her so she could get up; I handed the backpack to the bus driver and the driver promised to help the poor kid get off the bus with the pack.

I thought kids were always fat and lazy, that's the fun of being a kid. Be thin as an adult, kids junk it up and supersize all the way.

Plus this is nothing new. Look at the Little Rascals; they were living through the depression and there were still plenty of plump little bastards in that group.
