View Full Version : Ron and Fez Fizzicks; TIME TRAVEL

[I couldn't stop thinking about Ron last night and his desire to know all about Quantum Physics and Earth 2 and Time Travel. Well, I'm no expert at All; but i taught a bit, so I've written examples about a couple of things in the past; and I took one and customized it. Here it is.... All me, mistakes and all. And I'm sure there are mistakes.]

Ron and Fez Fizzicks; part one: TIME TRAVEL

Time Travel: This we know so far.
We seem to be traveling through time.
Time seems to be like an arrow, moving in one direction; from past, through present, into the future
That arrow so far, the direction of time, seems to be one way.

Time in Relativistic Conditions
[by that way 'relativistic' above simply means in conditions where we can imagine we can travel very fast, like 99.99999% the speed of light. $5 words can suck.]

We now KNOW, for FACT, that when something travels very very fast, it looks to us that it has slowed down in time. Now what does that mean, exactly?

OK imagine Ron has a spaceship and leaves Fez on Earth and to zoom around the solar system at lets say, 90% the speed of light. After a while, Ron looks at his clock in his ship it appears a-ok, ticking off one second every second. But when Ron looks outside through a telescope; he sees that on Earth everything looks sped up; he can just make out Fez, but he's moving so fast Fez is a blur. Ron spots a clock and sees the hands are spinning around like a propeller.

If Fez takes his telescope and looks up at Ron; he sees the clock on Ron's ship; and sees it's hardly moving! Fez sees that it takes minutes, maybe days, before a single second ticks off on Ron's clock. Fez's clock, next to him, the one Ron spotted, looking like a propeller, is working just fine to Fez. Fez misses Ron.

CAN WE TRAVEL INTO THE FUTURE?

Yes. Going back to Ron zooming around. Let's say before Ron departs; he agrees with Fez he will be gone one day; 24 hours. No problem. So Ron is zooming around; and he smokes a few stogies while watching his clock tick off the 24 hours. Ron starts heading back to earth and lands precisely when his clock says 1 day has passed.

Ron gets out, and Fez is now 110 years old. A feeble, wrinkly incontinent mess. He squints up to see Ron, who looks exactly as he did when he left. To Fez, Ron has aged 1 day. But Because time slowed down for Ron, and hence sped up for Fez, Ron has returned 70 years after he left. Earth has aged 70 years to Ron. Ron and Fez's parents are gone, sorry. You see people that were children when you left, and they are older then you. The Ron+Fez Show is still in Best-Of...

PROOF: We have sent up twin atomic clocks; one on the ground, and flown one very fast, many times the speed of sound. And when the plane/rocket/whatever returns and we compare the clocks, the one that traveled is slow compared to the one that stayed put. It's only a few billionths of a second, but we can measure those difference very well, and this has been repeated, and proven in many other ways. The numbers above are all made up; they arent exact in terms of how fast Ron has to go and for how long. But the outcomes are indeed possible.

This is a Thought Experiment.

CAN WE TRAVEL INTO THE PAST?

We have theories, good ones too, but we don't see a practical way yet of traveling back in time; nothing really testable like the twin atomic clocks.
Of course; we immediately run into the Back-to-the-future Syndrome...

Q: What if the Ron+Fez show decide to send Ron back in time? Ron travels back in time and wacks Fez's Mom, or Dad, whichever, or both. If you do this; it would have been impossible for Fez to have been born. So Ron never meets Fez, and Ron becomes famous on the Ron + Sweet Melissa Show.

But wait, it was the Ron+Fez Show that decided to do this; and how can there be a Ron+Fez show if Fez was never born?? Even worse, what if Ron went back and killed his own dad? That would be horrible becau.wait. how can Ron travel back in time to kill his dad?? If he could do that there'd be no Ron in the first place, and it would be the Fez +

All time travel into the past involves seemingly unsolvable paradoxes.

Some theorists believe that time travel into the past is possible but only into an alternate earth - that way there is no paradox in this earth. On the other earth, you kill your grandparents and are never born.

When you return to our earth (present) your grandparents were never killed and you were able to be born, go back in time, and kill them in an alternate earth.

BTW, some philosophers believe that memories are a form of time travel into the past. It's a strech but not as much as one as it seems the more you think about it.

you can't travel in time, because it doesn't exist. you cannot measure it, you cannot travel in it, you cannot manipulate it. not even super man going real fast around the world, its doesn't work that way!

besides if you did travel in time, you would have generated an alternate reality! this would generate alternate universes, as everything is effected by everything else.

besides, its not in the bible, RIGHT HK????

A great short story, by a great writer, Ray Bradbury,
goes into the aspects of paradoxes when travelling
back in time. A guy steps on a butterfly in the time of
the dinosaurs, and when they return... well jusy go
read it. It's short.

The only time travel I know of would involve the speed of light. The would allow us to travel into the past, but we wouldnt be able to change anything (we would not be a part of this, just seeing it) This would involve rockets that can travel faster then the speed of light, and also everyone you knew would be dead when you come back, because of how far ahead you traveled (when you had come back, you did not travel into the future, though) Just my theory. I dont believe in any of that other load of bullshit.

So, if I'm standing next to a guy with a hammer and a nail in wood, I'd hear the slamming first, before the guy 50 yards away, thus making ME travel into the sound future. Correct?

If the SAT was written in Ron and Fez form..

A train from NY leaves to Washington DC at 80 Mph with Fez on it, he weighs 250 pounds and a train leaves Long Island to DC at 90 Mph and Ron is on it and weighs 275. Billy takes a train from DC to L.I. going 75 mph and he weighs 280, how fast will each train be going when Billy, Ron and Fez collide?

That would make the SAT worthwhile.
