my other brother did 4 years in the Marines...

did bootcamp at Camp Lejune(sp?) and spent a year or so in Okinawa...

he got in trouble one time: they were out in "the field" at night and he took a shit in the foxhole, while he was on guard duty...other than that he did very well, he got Marine Of the Month or some similar award and he was a 1,000push-up and 1,000sit-up a day guy...

it turns out he went to a very good High School (St Peters Prep) in Jersey City and got very good grades BUT he did not pick up a skill during his service and it turns out that he had and continues to have a very hard time adjusting to civilian life(19 years now)...

so the moral of the story is:

don't shit in the foxhole and
make sure before you sign up that you are guaranteed schooling/training that you can use after you complete your service...

All went well.
I had to tell the guy to sort of back off. He wanted me to go take the written test tomorrow, then go to the medical thing on Thursday and swear in and everything. I had to tell him no. He says he'll call me in a week or so.

They were so persistant on me swearing in on Thursday. I was like "Calm down there, guy."


There was some other kid there talking to a recruiter behind me. I was cracking up. The recruiter was like, "I've fucked so many girls cause of this uniform, it'd make your head spin." Every other word out of his mouth was "fuck". Then he started telling the kid how he goes to restaurants in his uniform and he gets free meals and stuff.
