Courtesy of the Wrestling Observer:

Jeff Hardy wrestled his first match since being released by the WWE on Saturday night in Indian Land, SC at the Rec Center before about 100 people. He worked under a mask under his old Willow the Whisp gimmick for a show that will air on TV in the Charlotte market. The pictures below are from a buddy of mine (I tried to resize them for our board anyway):

This is very interesting if you think about it. It looks like he has found the love of wrestling again and does not care about the big bucks and being firmly placed underneath Vince McMahon's ass. No ego apparently....

Could this mean a jump to TNA in the coming future? This would definitely increase the TNA PPV buyrate and pull in that needed 12-17 teenybopper demographic! (hee hee nutty budday, Lulu ;) )

My very reliable sources tell me that this was to get the ring rust off (he should be working in other smaller indy markets for the time being) and make his first appearance at the One Year Anniversary of TNA. Hmmm... but what do I know.

What do you think peeps?

I would more than guess that he has a no compete clause. At one time he actually was entertaining. He should take a lot more time off than what he took, like a minimum a few months to get his head back in the business.

I love that Rec Center! They have both a ping-pong table AND an air hockey game!

I was wondering if they actually promoted him as Jeff Hardy of if he was promoted as Willow the Whisp. It's actually kind of cool of him to do a show in front of 100 people.

What's with the crazy outfit?

In their pre-WWE days, the Hardys wrestled all over the indies. They had their own fed down in the Carolinas, I believe (Omega, I think it was called) which actually featured quite a few of the current WWE stars - guys like Shane "Hurricane" Helms and Shannon Moore.

Anyway, Jeff had like 2 or 3 masked gimmicks which he switched back and forth (sometimes he'd wrestle a couple times each show - under a different mask / gimmick). One of those was the Will O' The Wisp gimmick. The regular outfit looked even weirder.

Of course, this was all before he lost his motivation for the business and discovered the personal demons of drug addiction.

I believe he was billed as Willow. However, I don't think his appearance was actually promoted, but rather was either a last minute addition or a ''surprise.'' I may be wrong on that, though...
