OK so I finally found a game on PS2 I love. Madden football.

So I heard 2003 was really similar to 2002 which I have so I was going to wait and buy Madden 2004. But Madden 2002 just crapped out on me (I think my dog scratched it or something) so I had to replace it.

Then I read all these reviews that said NFL2K3 was the better football sim.

So I bought that and will wait until August for Madden 2004.

Did I do the right thing? I didn't open the package yet.

PS- I don't plan on playing online so I don't care about that feature..

Well, I couldn't wait so I opened it and played NFK2K3 all night....

My thoughts:

The graphics and play control are way better. The players look much more realistic (I've played Madden 2003).

My gripes:

Madden has a better explaination of the plays and how to use them in different situations and I like the "Ask Madden" feature.

Madden has cheerleaders.

Madden has a much better selection of create a team and throwback team and jersey options.

Creating your own player is much easier in Madden. NFL2K3 REAL players look better...but I miss being able to make a fat 423 lb. white player with orange dreadlocks who is 4'11" in Madden.

My biggest gripe (and here is where someone may be able to help me....please.....) is that when you create a player, you can modify the player's stats, but the game assigns the college. In Madden you can pick the D1 college.

So, I, of course, created myself to be a star quarterback with 99's on all skill levels and a 100 rating. Yet I couldn't find any combo of features that looked remotely like me (Madden has three balding hair options for example) AND the game assigned me University of West Virginia as my alma mater. Then I created more players and I couldn't edit the colleges assigned.

So I want to know...... how can I change my college to Rice University?


If no one knows, does anyone know a good gaming message board I might post the question on?

Ok to import your own players you also need to have the college football game made by EA Sports which is NCAA football 2003.

This game is far superior to Madden other then the Glitch on throwing passes up for grabs 75% of the time a computer controlled WR will catch it.

But anyway you can create them here and then copy them into your Madden game.

I would now probably wait and by the new copy of college and maddens when they come out since they are like 4 months away as it is.

But college is best more choices of plays and formations for both offense and defense plus you have the option and school fight songs

Thanks for the advice all, except the part I don't understand is I don't see why I would import from the college game from Madden to NFL2K3, I think that was a mistake. In Madden NFL, you can just pick the Div. I team you want your created player to be from and you're good to go.

You can only import from EA games to EA Games meaning College Football to Maddens

So for instance you do a dynasty season in college and football, you have a senior who wins the heisman and would like to draft him for your team in Maddens. After the college season is over you advance to the offseason where you can export the whole draft class--meaning all Seniors and the juniors who are good enough (thats right guys even leave school early) get put in a draft class.
You then play your first season of Maddens at the end of the year you import in the draft class and can draft those players from the college season.
It is just a way to introduce more realism and tie the two EA Games together.
And the true gamer knows that EA sports makes the best football games---as i said i prefer college over maddens because of the option plays and better schemes but that is just me
and i am a f'n gamer
