Nice! Sadly, I'd say this happens all the time. While it's an Awesome grading curve [circle?!?!] it doesn't bode well for our educational system, which some would say pretty much sucks.
Why do they say this? Probably because it pretty much sucks.

At least it wasn't Pilot's License Ground School.

Welcome to my World!

One of my biggest disappointments about teaching high school was seeing teachers that considered the students a petty nuisance to deal with for a while until they could get back to more important things; like the Newspaper.

When I see a student do something, or get an answer I didn't think the student had; I make a point of saying way to go, or something.

Teachers can say shit that's really cruel; and I have said things I've regretted. But you're right; and Keep On being the Underdog! Shake those asshole teachers up.

Having said this; any really good cool teachers at the school?

i've always been a good student, and have tried to do well (sometimes harder than others, granted), so i've never been saved by a curve undeservingly.

in college, i took this insane physics class, and the mean grades on the exams were usually around a 50%-60%. this would be something like a b+, with the curve. it was completely necessary, or else everyone would have failed. i mean, when the highest grade anyone is able to get legitimately is a 70%, a curve is imperative.

on the other hand, i've also gotten screwed over by curves. i had to take this stupid general chemistry class, and because it was a general class with a lot of students, the professor set the average at the cut-off point between a b- and c+. there was one exam that was fairly easy, most people did well, and the grades were all very close together. after the curve, i got a b. without a curve, i would have gotten about an a-. that pisses me off still. they shouldnt use curves to hurt people.

Yeah, I dont know. It was just they had this "my way or the highway" thing about them. Im a theater Tech major so there are many ways to get the same result for projects and theyd just be like these insane dictators about how everything had to be done.

I have never had a decent teacher at that school, in my major. The audio teachers were cool though.

well i had something like this happen, but it wasnt cause of the grading curve.

in my senior year, i never did a single homework assignment in my history class. sure i took the test, and did fairly well cause i rock at history. i'd even argue and debate during class about things in the textbook, and what my teacher would say, and i'd always be right. so one time when i was at his desk to check a test grade i saw that he was giving me half credit for every homework assignment. well i never mentioned it and neither did he, but if he hadnt did that i would have failed the year.
