Where would you go for breakfast: IHOP, Shoneys, Waffle House or Denny's?

I know IHOP and Denny's is popular up here, but Shoneys (all you can eat breakfast bar) and Waffle house (got to love that grease and the waitress yelling your order to the cook) are very popular in the south. My choice would be Shoneys with Waffle house a close second. follow by IHOP and Denny's in that order.

While south, I would NEVER eat at Waffle House. They looked TOO sleazy, even for me.

Now Shoneys is GREAT! ALL YOU CAN EAT BACON!!!!!

I had 2 plates. One with breakfast shit on in, and one JUST for Bacon!

But if you want quality, Dennys or IHOP are better. IHOP is tops.

Denny's gave my friend AIDS. Something with the Country Gravy. Not sure.

Shoney's however does rule becasue of the Buffet. The never ending stainless steel cauldron of scrambled eggs keeps me content. The mass quanities of bacon and sausage are wonderful as well.

Oh yeah, WEEN mentions Shoney's in one of their songs so that makes it all the more better.

Waffle House, all I gotta say is I LOVE IT. I want to die there buried beneath waffles and mounds of butter and syrup. I even got some WH menus for placemats here at home.

well considering i have never even heard of a Shoneys, or Waffle House.... i heard of Denny's but never been to one...and IHOP is right up the street from me... i guess i will have to pick IHOP. I go there alot and it is pretty good... :)

You guys dont have these down here, but Eat'n Park. Open all night, breakfast buffet twice a day (morning, and overnight). Great coffee. Basically Shoney's, but better.

But to play by the rules, it has to be Waffle House followed by IHOP. If Waffle house wasn't so skanky, it would be way above IHOP.

lets face it nothing is better then your favorite deli. if you find a good one you know that food is gonna be the best you can buy and taste the best it can taste. My favorite breaksfast place is Janets Meat Market in Mahwah. They have the best meat, and best breakfast sandwiches. I have never had better taylor ham in my life and I have been going there for the last 20 year.

Of the chains, definitely IHOP, Shoney's is good in the south though as well.

I think IHOP is repulsive. I don't know how they can call themselves a pancake house. Their pancakes are disgusting, their hashbrowns undercooked and their toast dry. My favorite breakfast place was always Loui's in Providence, RI, but as far as chains go, I find Bickford's to be far, far, FAR superior to IHOP or Denny's.

after the party it's the waffle house, it's the greatest breakfat ever. nothing beats bein stoned at 4am and headin over to the Waffle House (it's literally across the street from me at school). I'd place IHOP at a close second.

I would go IHOP, Waffle House, spent too much time in Tenn. ate there almost every morning. Though I've never eaten at a Shoney's it has to be third because nothing could be worse than that cesspool of life we call Denny's. Just awful.

IHOP: Haven't been to one in years, but now that they're building one across the street from the bank I work at, I may have to re-visit it.

Shoney's: A staple of the loooong car rides my dad used to take us on to Florida. As a lot of other folks have said, the buffet is awesome.

Waffle House: Never been.

Denny's: Used to eat here the morning after ECW shows in Philly. The Scram Slam holds a special place in my heart (and is probably blocking a couple valves).

Denny's, I've never been. I live in New Jersey and I go to proper Diners thank you. I can't imagine it being good.

IHOP was formerly the shit up til mid-80's, and then they got too big for their britches and they suck dick now. I think you can actually trace it to the International House of Pancakes becoming IHOP and the shift away from maple syrup.

My vote, if I"m talking sitdown chain breakfast, is hands down the Original Pancake House. Not too many around, I know there's one in Caldwell, and one in the East Hanover area on route 10, and I think one in Paramus, and definately on the pricer side of what's been mentioned. But holy shit, what a fucking meal there!!! I recommend either the chocolate chip pancakes or the strawberry pancakes. Order whipped cream on the side in both cases. Awesome omlettes too. Don't eat for 2 days and go there with 50 bucks and you'll have a story you'll tell your grandkids about. Now I'm starvin.

I used to think Shoneys was the best about five years ago. Since then it's become nothing more than fast food quality, unless I'm on a road trip and there's no where else to go I'm not sittin' in a dirty Shoneys.

Now I'd have to say IHOP is the best. It's cleaner and the pancakes are pretty good.

I just went yesterday to the one in Caldwell on Bloomfield Ave., fuckin amazing. I try to go there about once every 6 months, the place is incredible. It's a little bit on the expensive side, but well worth it. Everything they serve is fantastic, from the omlette's (oven baked by the way) to the pancakes, you can't go wrong. It beats all the places we've mentioned so far (IHOP, Shoneys, WH, and Denny's) by leaps and bounds.
