Styx Joined By Tenacious D On Stage In Los Angeles

Styx welcomed special guests Tenacious D on stage at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Tuesday (May 20th) for the song "Kiss Your Ass Goodbye." The comedic duo are featured on the original version of the song, which is from Styx's latest album, Cyclorama.


Tenacious D's Jack Black and Kyle Gass are long-time Styx fans, and Black told Guitar World magazine last year that his favorite Styx song of all time is "The Grand Illusion." Styx singer-guitarist James "J.Y." Young says he loves what the guys added to Cyclorama: "They did a great job on the background vocals on 'Kiss Your Ass Goodbye,' and then there's another little hidden bit, you know, where they're just riffing with Tommy (Shaw). And they did a bunch of other stuff, but this was the best of it."

The Classic Rock's Main Event tour, featuring Styx, Journey, and REO Speedwagon, hits the Nampa Center in Nampa, Idaho, on Saturday (May 24th).
