I still don't have one. I hardly ever answer the phone
when I'm home. Why would I carry one with me that I
also probably wouldn't answer? I need one that I can
make calls with but that calls won't come into.

I am with you there. If I want to talk to you I will call you.

As for cell phones they should be banned on public transportation. If you want to talk about your yeast infection wait until your home. I don't want to know about it.

I am, and always will be,in a state of sulky dissatisfaction.

what you should be saying is remember when there were no cellphones that didn't look like a phone booth being carried around

I rarely use my cell and, on the rare occasion someone does call me at home, I screen.

My company gave me one a year and a half ago. It's still sitting in the box.

I have one but only a few people have the number(my kids, family, work) I don't take it with me 99% of the time anyway. Besides, I never answer- i just listen to the voicemail and then decide if I want to talk to you!!

To tell you the truth, I value my little prepaid cell because of the convenience! Before I had it, it was a never-ending ordeal dealing with phones on the street that did not work or were vandalized, not to mentions the hundreds of dollars over the years of losing quarters in them! I love my little "cellie"!

those were the good old days. I turned one down from my company when we were starting the trading desk and prefered to just use my home phone. They are really annoying
and impolite

you have two choices: Castration or a one way ticket to New York

If you meant there were no cell phones in the 80s your wrong. Cell phones came out in 1983 but they were expensive huge and every thing else. I have my new cell phone but i still have my one from 1997.

Yeah. My cell phone fuckin rocks. It's a good to have and people who say they don't like them or hate them probably have no one to speak to anyway....just kidding.

I agree totally. Although I carry a cell, I try to use it for emergencies or convenience like when I'm bouncing in NYC and checking in where my peeps are hanging.

Some of my friends have purchased them for their significant others. To me this is tantamount to getting the person a LoJack for their body.

Now I graduated college in 1989....I never owned a computer (I typed all my papers) and had a phone in my dorm/fraternity house/off-campus house.

I go back to my alma mater and every student has a cell, very few students have phones, and they cannot imagine life without email, the Internet, and IM's.

I can relate Chairman. I graduated in 1992. I remember using either a Brother typewriter or my friend's Tandy 100EX word processor. Now the school has a website and all the students have e-mail accounts.

The first time I even heard of the Internet or e-mail was when I was interning at the State Department. The guy I worked for mentioned "electonic mail". I asked what that was and he said it's a message sent electronically on the computer. That's why I get such a kick out of R&F doing "Electronic mail -- mail sent electronically".

I have mine, but lately I have not been wanting to pick up and be chatty with people... even close friends.
Paying for an overpriced piece of equipment, and it's service then not really making use of it entirely and it's features, is something I do on the norm.

What about Palm Pilots?.. anyone have one of those? Are they worth 500 bux?

I do remember when there weren't any cell phones. I think being outside was much quieter back then. However, I do remember the first time I saw a cell phone. It was the first one that weighed like six pounds. I saw it on Saved By The Bell. Zack had to carry it in his backpack, it was so big. My uncle got one later. I just remember it being heavy. Hey, maybe if they were still that size, people would discourage themselves from using them so often.
