I'm just wondering the overall point of view of some of the ladies of the board. How important or Is it important for a guy to have a car? If so give a reason or 2. 10Q

i really couldn't care less if a guy had a car or not. some guys like to try and dazzle us with their expensive cars, but i think it's just trying to overcompensate for a teenie weenie

To men, a car often represents freedom, independance and sexuality.
To women, (more often than men) it represents transportation.

Never mattered to me. Not even in high school. When
I was living in DC most of the guys I dated didn't even
have cars, much less anything "kewl." I didn't
care. Long as my Geo Metro was running, we'd get
wherever we were going.
Maybe it appeals to shallow women, and if that's your
target audience, disregard my advice.

i concur with the ladies. it really doesn't matter what kind of a car a guy has. but i'm not gonna lie, if a guy i already like pulls up in a bmw or something, it's an added bonus. but if you're asking if i would be interested in a guy before i met him just by seeing him in his car, then no.
as far as having a car goes, it depends on where you live. if you lived down here by me, you NEED to have a car. i for one prefer when the guy drives, but i hate driving so most girls might not agree with me here.

All women are going to say they don't care, but the fact is THEY DO.
I'm not saying that's all women care about, BUT it helps.
I can not remember the last time I saw a fat ugly chick get out of a Ferrari (it has probably never happened) and also I have yet to see a Rebecca Romijn-Stamos caliber babe getting out of a Yugo.
I'm not saying is a conscious choice, I remember seeing a Desmond Morris
Documentary on the Discovery channel about this, and basically he concluded that women are not aware of it, but they go after the more physically and economically powerful, just as much as men go after the youthful and fertile-looking women.
Peace & Hugs.

when I was single, driving or parked, and i would see a girl in a car that was the same model as mine, i would think that we were compatible sexually because we had the same taste in cars...
what an idiot!

It's a turn off when a guy has a really tricked out car. I just find it really lame.

Sorry...my social life has totally change d now that I dont have a car again. I see how different people are around me. Especially women.....not saying that all women are shallow like that. But now when I see a female I know, whom I havent seen in awhile, and they find out I dont have a car anymore...theyre dfferent. Certain females dnt call me anymore....or their attitude totally changed.
On a positive note...I totally hit up all my friends, who now have cars, for rides cause I used to drive their asses everywhere back in the day.
I'll get off my soapbox now.

All women are going to say they don't care, but the fact is THEY DO.
I'm not saying that's all women care about, BUT it helpsi love sweeping generalizations. they're the best.
in the past, i have only ever dated one guy who even owned car, and his was a complete piece of shit.
my boyfriend used to have a car... it would shake when the car was standing still, and would stall sometimes when he started it. one day, it just died on the parkway, either from exhaustion or embarrasment, i'm not sure which. ever since, he doesn't have a car and we walk or take the train wherever we go.
of course there will always be idiotic twits who care more about a guy's car than the guy himself, but i personally don't know any girls like that.
i think guys like to convince themselves that all girls are into their cars so they can justify spending obscene amounts of money on cars that they like, and that will impress the other guys.

This is a basic tenet of evolutionary psychology. People select mates based on their ability to have kids (pass on their 1/2 of DNA) and to support the kids (during lactation when women until recently in history couldn't do any work at all.)
Like most theories there is some validity to it, but I believe it is a far better explanation for behavior of early sapiens as opposed to modern society - at least in developed countries.
