Has anyone used any of the job sites such Monster.com or careerbuilders.com? If so, what were you're experiences? I've got a job right now but Since I've retired from my City job not too long ago, I don't feel like busting my ass after all these years of doing it for the city. I don't feel like pounding the pavement looking for another job so I was wondering if I would let this wonderful electronic medium work for me! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated or job offers of lots of money for doing nothing!!!!!

I use Monster and Hot Jobs, they're ok. I suggest if you use them, that you give them an email address from Yahoo as opposed to your regular email, because I literally get close to 1000 junk emails a week and I'm certain they're from my monster and hotjobs accounts. Fortunately I have the emails go to my yahoo email account.

As for the services, they do list lots of jobs that are available, though a lot of them are through temp agencies. Once in a while something good comes along though and I do get calls for interviews. So I think they work pretty good.

I really think that you should go to websites speciallizing in your career path. For example, If you are trained in the computer field, you might want to visit, circutcity.com and pcrichard.com to apply for a job, and not deal with the 2nd man in between. These websites may broaden your options, but I know they dont include a lot of smaller companies.

Maybe JustJon should look into this.

Retail work is so beneath me.

If you are trained for the computer field, try Dice, Monster, CraigsList, HotJobs, FlipDog, etc. NYNMA used to be really good, but their new engine sucks.

flipdog.com is another really good site.. didn't see it mentioned before. you can set it up so it'll send you an email like once or twice a week with new jobs that are posted that fit the criteria that you pick out. i'm using their system, and i get emails with pretty interesting jobs and companies listed.

Down here, I use the Washington Post.com Jobs section. It's very good.

Do the NY/NJ papers have a similar feature on their websites?
