Men Vs. Women

It's a debate that has been
stirred up time and time
again with my friends. Do
most of you agree that
when a guy firsts looks at a
girl, the immediate thought
that enters his mind is,
"Whoa those are nice tits", "I
wonder what she looks like
under those clothes" or "I
wonder what she's like in
bed". Whereas, when a girl
first looks at a guy, her
immediate thought is
"Hmmm I wonder if he's
marriage material", "I
wonder if he'll make a good
boyfriend/husband".

I think that it's true for the
guys, they definately
connect with a girl
physically first, then all the
mental attraction comes
after. As for the girls, I think
it's partially true. Girls tend
to think more about that
relationship stuff, but I still
think a majority of women
see physical attributes first
but not as vile.
What are your thoughts?

I am sitting watching TV and of course goofing off with my computer, I read your post and me and my girlfriend got a kick out of it, You are 100% correct men (especially me) look at the physical aspects first, then I'll find out if I can stand her.
I do not apologize for being the way I am you need to have both a person you are attracted to and a person you like, if you don't have both leave that person, trust me you will find the right person, never settle for anything but the best. (Varies for every person)

women on the other hand well if i knew what they wanted me and my wife wouldn't be at odds on just about every subject that comes up.

EFFMEBOOBS - Really a fascinating topic.

Psychologists specializing in gender roles (i.e. how male and female behaviors differ) believe that women fall in love and that leads to sexual desire, while men experience sexual desire which can lead to love.

No matter how much in love with their partner, both men and women look at other people and wonder about them sexually. Not that they necessarily plan to or even want to do anything other than look, but they do look.

Men tend to look much more overtly, (sometimes walking into a tree while checking someone out), which upsets their partner to no end. Women are much more subtle and have perfected the covert look. Most guys don't even notice when their partner checks out another guy, but rest assured guys, it's happening. But so what? It's harmless and no big deal.

It only becomes problematic when the purpose of these looks is to scope out some "action" because one is unhappy with their partner.

I have many female friends, and with the exception of my wife, who is my best friend, every relationship is platonic. Relationships with members of the opposite sex can be very fullfilling and wonderful, w/o sex entering into the picture. Of course, you are aware whether someone is attractive, but it's just not important; the friendship, the intellect, the emotions are.

One final thought on this: Evolutionary psychologists believe that men look at a woman's body noting her endowments, etc, because they're checking out her ability to carry his genes for 9 months and produce a kid, then take care of him/her. Men look for big breasts b/c it (falsely) indicates greater nursing ability. They look for narrow waists and wider hips which indicate easier births and greater likelihood that the genes will survive. They look for clear skin, long lusterous hair and youth which are some indication of general health.

Evolutionary psychologists also believe that women look for a guy with a tight ass as an indication of greater thrusting ability increasing the likelihood of conceiving, and affluent, older guys to take care of them and the kid, once born, so they can concentrate on raising the child and ensuring their genes survive.

Personally, I think that evolutionary psychology is a crock of shit. Men and women both look for qualities they find desireable based on what culture tells them is desireable. What we consider desireable in our culture is not desireable in other cultures. If evolutionary psychology had validity all cultures would value the same physical traits and consider them beautiful.

I agree w/Sunrisa, in that there is no difference between what men and women look for...it all depends on the individual, like most things. All that stuff about how women think relationship first while men think looks first is a bunch of bull...people look for what they want. And most people, I'd say about 99.9% of people judge their attraction by how the other person looks(at first), no matter whether you're a man or a woman. Men just have the reputation of being more stupid in their reactions, but the levels of caring about outward appearance are equal between both the sexes.

Women aren't any better than men..most people are superficial I guess.

Hecker - Yes I do know how you feel about this, we have discussed this many times. I totally agree women are crazy and men are just stupid. I don't think the majority of men out there are just about getting some and getting fed.

Sunn - I agree with your statement. I didn't say ALL men did this sort of thing, I meant the MAJORITY of them do. I also agree that women aren't any better then men. All in all, your whole statement was what I was trying to support because men do have that reputation.
