i was under the impression that once you reach the 14% alcohol by volume the beer is then considered a barley-wine, such as dominion's milenneum. my experience with beer that strong is that after abouty a pint of it...you begin to forget that its so potent. it tastes like beer, (really sweet beer) so you have like two or three or maybe even four more pints (admit what?) then you end up having a black out, waking up the next day wondering what happened, and why it tastes like a cat took a shit in your mouth while you were sleeping. i love living right next to a brewery. half gallon growlers filled for 5 bucks, with fresh brewed lagers, ales, pilsners and stouts. going to miss it when i move to FL.

Well as I recall according to Jim Koch it is still "beer" because it is made by the same process... but as far as labelling it goes I am pretty sure you're right about the barley wine thing... either way it doesn't taste like beer in the slightest...

wasn't Jim Koch forced to stop brewing his triple bock because it's alcohol content was too high?

Monolith is the result of a secret project that has been 17 months in the making at Stone Brewing.
What is this, the Manhattan Project?

Australian beer that was made for 1 year in 1995-1996 before receiving a cease and desist from Fox. 6 packs go for about $1200 and 24 can cases about $10,000.

Beats me. I was thinking of his Millenium Ale. It tasted like brandy.
