are you loyal to your barber(guys)? to your stylist(ladies)?
I am. His name is Ernie.
For years i bounced around from barber to barber and was never happy for some reason. Ernie has been cutting my hair for about 3 years now despite the fact that most of his clients are older gentlemen. When I walk in I don't have to go through the whole explaining what i wan't done b/c he already knows. He knows a lot about me and remembers a lot of meaningless information about me. And I know a lot about him and his family. I thought it was kinda wierd when i realized just how much we know about each other from about 12 30-minute conversations a year. And he gives me a damn good haircut. Therefore, I am and will be a repeat customer for some time.
Is this a normal haircutter/haircuttee relationship?
how much do you tip them? he charges me 10 bucks and i give him 2 or 3 bucks

I go a place called Ginos. Doesn't really matter who cuts it, they're all good. I do prefer a woman to do it though.

i used to go to this barber for years, his nickname around town was Blind John.. cause no matter what he would find a way to fuck something up... but still everyone went back.. he retired recently and i have not been able to find a good replace and i refuse to go the guy who took over his spot.... so now i just buzz my hair myself...

i've been going to Wendy at Precisions in Howell for several years now...
when i lived in Jersey City i used to go to Michael Anthony's on Newark Ave... the guys name was Tino, he was meticulous and excellent with a straightedge razor...
Sometimes I had a 9:00am appt and I'd get to the shop and he wasn't there and Tony the owner couldn't get him to answer his phone... So i would walk about half a mile and throw pebbles at his apt window to get him up... he was a drinker and he loved The Meadowlands Racetrack... sometimes I would just wait an hour or hour and a half for him at the shop...
I was a regular and they were like family...
he was a short guy about 5'1 and he was from Argentina, he was always in a good mood...
then i moved to Carteret and still went back to Tino until I moved to Jackson, then it was a bit too much of a drive...

I've been going to this guy in E. Northport for a couple of years now named Vinnie. My main attraction to him ( besides cutting my hair the way I like it) is that he's born in Italy. Only the very best barbers are Italian!!!!

i've been going to the same woman for the past probably fifteen years or so (and i'm only twenty-four). my whole family goes to her, as well as some family friends.. she's very good. although, now we're all considering switching because she won't do the bridal party's hair for my sister's wedding. ugh.
and, what does this have to do with relationships?

while i completely understand your point, I just don't feel that relationships necessarily has to be limited to love issues
Although i did ask the very same question when Aggie wrote about her 'pesky hard nips'
if this thread deserves a move then thats fine with me

do they often turn people away? i'd imagine that if you walked into any barber with money, they'd cut your hair.

I've been going to my bitchin' Vietnamese barbers for almost six years now. Best $10 haircut I've ever had. I'm glad they DIDN'T stay in Saigon.

I'd assume so. I know most of the barbers there are his family...wife, kids, cousins, nephews, nieces, etc.. His name is "Tony"...
