Will some one tell me what the fuck a nonpareil is? Like you go to the movies and buy Sno-Caps and the box says "nonpareil." Or a container of sprinkles says "nonpareil."

What the hell does a pareil have that a nonpareil lacks?

http://oldtimecandy.com/images/boxes/sno-caps.jpg

And what does "quiescently" mean? Like when you buy ice pops the box always say "a quiescently frozen confection." What make it quiescent? Is the pop really "resting" like what the word means?

And speaking of frozen ice pops, what makes something a "novelty?" Like you buy a box of ice cream pops and it says "ice cream novelties."

Pennsauken, NJ, March 2002. . . J&J Snack Foods Corp. is pleased to announce that it has expanded The Ice Zoner with the introduction of several new frozen novelty items to the retail supermarket trade. The new items include: Minute Maidr Fruit & Cream SwirlT; LUIGI'Sr SWIRLr; and two new varieties of ICEEr Squeeze Tubes.

Who thinks this shit up?

Pantera and I had this conversation yesterday, after seeing an ad that described Coca-Cola as "clean". Huh? As opposed to the "crisp, filthy taste of Coke"? Nonpareils have baffled me, my entire movie-going life as well.

The snow caps name always did get me. I had to stock the candy in the produce asile at the Pathmark I used to work at. I had to stock the Nonpariels, and I'd just stare at the box in disbelief.

Sounds French to me. Just call the Freedom Caps.

Mr. Chairman, I do believe it's time for you to get back
to work. Benevolent Rulers should not be wasting their
valuable time and mental energy on such as this.
Leave it to us Dreamer Minstrels. ;)

I've wondered about these things myself...

nonpareil
[non-puh-REHL]
1. A tiny colored-sugar pellet used to decorate cakes, cupcakes, cookies, candy, etc. 2. A confection consisting of a small chocolate disc covered with these colored candy pellets. 3. A French term meaning "without equal," most often used in reference to small pickled CAPERS from the region of Provence in France.

thanks reefdwella.

Also: Google is pretty amazing. I found the answer to my "quiescently frozen" confection question as well.

Google is pretty amazing.

Speaking as a 50 year old who "just got" his first computer a few months ago,"it's the best continuing education course I know of".
