Do you peel off the wrapping before putting it in the fridge or leave the wrapper on?

I leave the wrapper on, even as I use the butter. If I need a 1/4 stick I cut it with the wrapper on and put the rest back (in a plastic butter holder).

I didn't realize this may be weird until a friend started laughing at me and said "everyone takes the wrapper off before putting it in the fridge."

I also freeze the butter I won't use right away.

Please tell me I'm not that unusual, at least when it comes to dairy products.

Exactly! Plus I assume the wrapper keeps the butter fresher and from picking up other odors in the fridge....

Now my friend's wife, who is from Wisconsin, laughs at people for putting butter in the fridge to begin with! She says people there mostly just keep it outside at room temperature. I guess they use it often enough that it doesn't go rancid...

Not only do I leave the wrapper on, but I thought that butter that wont be used immediately HAS to be put in the freezer.
