If they retired at the end of this season here's a list of definites

Roger Clemens
Barry Bonds
Greg Maddux
Randy Johnson
Joe Torre. (As a manager)
Sammy Sosa
Rafael Palmiero

The following in my opinion might have to be elected on their 2nd or more try

Fred McGriff
Frank Thomas
Ken Griffey Jr
Tom Glavine
Juan Gonzalez

Its early but Arod looks like a lock.

I'm one of those people who also believe that if Griffey doesn't turn it around, he should not get consideration.

-Curt Schilling (I'm pushing it, but maybe)

palmiero should only get in if he gives tino martinez his gold glove back. to accept that award after playing a measly 26 games at 1b is just petty.

I agree with Johnson, and John Franco should make it on the first try. But the problem is the hall has a discrimination against relievers. He has the highest save total for a leftie.

A guy that has not been elected yet but should have been long ago is Gil Hodges. But that is an argument for another time.

Hypothetically speaking, If A Rod retires after this season, he would be ineligible. One of the requirements for a player is that he must be in the league for at least 10 seasons

I agree with whoever mentioned Rickey Henderson before. If there's a total absolute stone cold lock for HOF right now, it would have to be Rickey...he's only the greatest leadoff hitter ever, the stolen base king, more runs, more walks than anybody
