Yea, thats right. I found out on saturday that a kid from my school shot himself on friday. He crashed his dad's corvette and thought his dad was gonna kill him because of all the dammage. Took his dad's hunting rifle to the front yard and shot himself in the head. His name is now writtin and spray painted all around the school. I never knew the kid.

What a waste of a perfectly good kid and a perfectly good Corvette - I thought my dad was gonna kill me when I trashed my Firebird but he brought me flowers, instead. One should never jump to conclusions!

SateliteCam - Even though you didn't know this kid personally, his death can affect you. If necessary, you may find it helpful to talk to the school psychologist.

Ouch.

When I was a Sophomore in high school, a girl, who I did not know that well but we were in the extra-curricular choral groups together, somehow smuggled her father's gun into school and, while cutting class one period with her friend, went out to the woods and shot herself.

She'd never seemed the type to have any kind of emotional trouble, the kind of person who was the one who would pick her friends up off the ground or give you a reason to smile. . . but she killed herself, too.

As an "upperclassman" member of the choral groups, and to show our support to her family, we performed at her funeral/memorial service. I think that, in addition to the fact that she'd committed suicide in the first place, disturbed me greatly. . . because I thought about how my own parents might react if I'd done the same thing.

I agree with HordeKing that talking with the school psychologist would be a great idea. I spent 2 days in the guidance office, crying and non-functional, because I was that disturbed by the event and its aftermath. Even though you didn't know this person, it's affecting you enough to post about it here. Your best bet to figure out why it's so upsetting to you is to talk it out with someone who can help you resolve things which may be dredged up by this event.

Hang in there, OK? :)

I keep reading this post and wonder why I don't feel anything. I'm always amazed when people say things like, "I'm sorry." I know that people will reply with stupid things to say, but i'm only trying to understand something. I have never cared about anyone dying. I try to imagine people close to me dying and nothing seems to register. The only time I cried over death was when my dog died. When I hear about people dying, I realy don't even care. The only thing that intrigues me is how they die. I feel that our life is like a book. The end of that book is already written. When we get up each morning it's like turning a page. The fun part is wondering if today happens to be the last page. Now, before I get bashed for this, maybe someone like Horde King can explain this to me.

It doesn't necessarily make you a cold person or anything to feel this way. Everyone deals with these situations in their own way. Personally I feel for people, so even if I didn't know the kid or the person who posted this I feel for them because I understand to some extent what their going through. When I was a kid I had my own reasons to believe my dad would kill me. But I was also smart enough to know that as mad as he would get, that he loved me and that after a while it wouldn't be an issue anymore. But I also have friends who don't appear at all affected by death or tragedy. It doesn't mean anything other than that's how they deal with it.

once you have a few deaths in a high school...or any school you kinda get over it unless you knew the person really well(and even then you tend to accept it after awhile). For the last eight or nine years someone that went to my school or was a friend of mine from school was killed in one way or another, at least one person each year, sometimes more. Hell, one year we had a student shoot himself in the face before chirstmas because he was afraid that his stepdad would be mad when he saw he was failing a couple classes. Later that same year one of the science teachers in the middle school(whom i was really close to) went home early because she was "sick." Her husband was taking care of her, but he left to go somewhere and when he was gone one of his sons came home to find his mother hanging from the rafters in the basement. By the time the ambulance got there she had been hanging for about an hour and most of her body fluids had drained to her legs. They are suppose to contact EMT volunteers to let them know if someone they know is on a call...that way they don't have to see a loved one or a friend in pain. In this case no one was notified and a bunch of her former students were on the call and had to take her dead swollen body to the hospital.
Whether you know the victim or not...it's hard to get over death, you think constnatly about how you could have talked to them more and treated them better...or treated them worse..you never know, depends on who you are. But it all comes down to...people die ...you can greive, but in the end you just have to get over it.

Yeah seriously. Look at how the person who posted this thread. Didn't know the kid...he's some kid...not a friend, not a family member. I obviously wouldn't have made a reference or joke it was someone seriously mentioning a death like a friend, family member, etc.

It is sad but it is also ignorance and stupidity. If someone feels so compelled to kill themselves after they break or mess up another person's material possession.. it's retarded. Better he do himself in than go around school and shoot teachers and students.

obviously the person who posted this is kinda upset or confused...but the truth is(as i said before) all you can do is accept it and move on. After awhile you get use to death, you cry your tears, you think your thoughts, and then you move on with your life. It doesn't mean you don't have feelings or you didnt' care for the person. But you can't sit there and let something you couldn't control run your life, so you have to move on. This is true for most things in life. When you learn to move on you tend to handle situations better than most people. It's not a bad thing not to emotionally overreact. And remember kids just because someone had died...it doesn't make them "a great guy" or "such a wonderful person." If they were a douche when they were alive...well they were a douche when you die you dont' just turn into some great person...remember that...(and no i don't nessecarily mean this kid that kid himself)

Before we all get caught up in fighting about how sensitive we should be about the death of another person, remember: we are all one. We are all made of the same substance, the same chemical elements, the same energy, the same life. When one of dies, we all die a little bit. When one of us suffers, we all suffer some of their pain. Remember that.

Reef is right.

He wouldn't have even started this thread if, in some way (whether he entirely realized it or not), he had not been affected by this event. It likely HAS been on his mind a lot lately.

I knew someone who killed themselves in my high school; he was an upperclassman, and actually his father was one of the school's custodians. I didn't really know the kid very well, only saw him in the halls from time to time, but his father was a nice guy, and I for days after it happened, I just couldn't stop thinking about the father, coming home one day and finding his son like that (the kid killed himself in his bedroom). It disturbed me deeply.

HK has given some good advice, SatCam, perhaps it would benefit you to talk with someone at your school about this.

Its just shock factor, and who's he gonna talk about it too? His parents will only lecture him and tell him how much they love him, hoping he wont do the same, and his friends may have their heads up thier asses and not care. So he comes here to ask for an adult opinion a touchy situation, and see if this has happened to anyone else and how they reacted. Thats what i think.

Sat. I had the same situation a few years ago, a kid on my brothers cross-country team killed himself. It wasnt that I knew him very well, my brother the same, it was just the shock that one day he was there laughing and in good spirit, the next morning he's gone.

Dont worry about it man, just dont think too much about it and bring ya self down.

A child arrived just the other day;
He came to the world in the usual way.
But there were planes to catch, and bills to pay.
He learned to walk while I was away,
And he was talking before I knew and as he grew
he said, I'm gonna be like you, dad.
You know I'm gonna be like you.

And the cat's in the cradle
And the silver spoon
Little boy blue
And the man in the moon.
When you coming home, dad?
I don't know when,
But will get together then son
You know we'll have a good time then.

Well my son turned ten just the other day.
He said thanks for the ball, dad, come on let's play.
Can you teach me to throw?
I said, not today I got a lot to do.
He said, that's ok.
And then he walked away but his smile never dimmed
And he said, I'm gonna be like him, yeah.
You know I'm gonna be like him.

And the cat's in the cradle
And the silver spoon,
Little boy blue
And the man in the moon.
When you coming home, dad?
I don't know when son
But we'll get together then.
You know we'll have a good time then.

Well, he came from college just the other day,
So much like a man I just had to say,
Son, I'm proud of you. Can you sit for a while
He shook his head, and he said with a smile,
What I'd really like, dad, is to borrow the car keys.
See you later. Can I have them please

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon,
Little boy blue and the man in the moon.
When you coming home, son?
I don't know when,
But we'll get together then, dad.
You know we'll have a good time then.

Well I've long since retired my son's moved away.
I called him up just the other day.
I said, I'd like to see you if you don't mind.
He said, I'd love to, dad, if I could find the time.
You see my new job's a hassle, and the kid's got the flu,
But it's sure nice talking to you, dad.
It's been sure nice talking to you.
And as I hung up the phone, it occurred to me,
He'd grown up just like me.
My boy was just like me.

And the cat's in the cradle and the silver spoon,
Little boy blue and the man in the moon.
When you coming home, son
I don't know when,
But we'll get together then, dad.
You know we'll have a good time then.

When you comin home son,
I don't know when
But will get together then, dad
Were gonna have a good time then

Ok, this kid has been dead for almost two weeks. We can probably leave him alone now. I mean, his father probably got the car out of the shop by now. Life goes on.

Thank guys. Accually, it didnt really effect me. I never seen this guy's face and he was 4 years older than me.

The saddest thing was that his birthday was only 2 days before.

BTW, I skipped through the second page before I posted. I was not trying to get my post count up, and I got over this a few days after... that was when i expected this thread to die down.

hahaah....

Dad: "Well, at least he didn't get brains on the interior..."

oh, and by the way, if any of you are "shocked" or "insulted" by any of these posts, let me remind you this fucking putz commited suicide because he thought he was in big trouble with his dad. I've wrecked my father's car so many times i've often wondered why he hasn't killed ME yet... What a fucking moron and a complete waste of human life...i have no sympathy for these people...there's always hope, i don't care how awful your life is... i mean....CRASHING YOUR DAD'S CAR? YOU KILL YOURSELF??!?!?!? WHAT?!?!? 2 + 2 = 5.

What if the car is now cursed. His father will go to drive it and end up crashing.
