I think that Eddie just did guest lead vocals on "Hunger Strike". He was not listed as a regular member of the band. He did a few other background vocals on the album though. T.O.T.D was basically Pearl Jam with Cornell instead of Vedder.

Cornell was the singer with the band and he was also andrew wood's roomate, Vedder was an aquatence of wood being that jeff amnett and other members of temple of the dog and pearl jam where friends with wood. vedder contributed some vocals to the tribute album, but official was never in the "band" if you could even call temple of the dog a band, being it was a one time thing

Geez, I forgot about them. If you were from Seattle and in a grunge band the word "dog" was gonna in a song somewhere.

temple of the dog was essentially a tribute album to andy wood who o/d'ed on herion in the early 90s.

andy wood was the lead singer for the band mother love bone, which was NOT pearl jam minus eddie vedder, the band had a much different sound and only 2 members of pearl jam were in it. chris cornell wasn't in mother love bone, he was friends with andy wood. when andy died he wrote a couple of songs about him and contacted jeff ament and stone gossard (who are now in pearl jam, but were in Mother Love Bone with andy, and were also in Green River with Mark Arm from Mudhoney) to record them. when they recorded the songs, they pulled in a few people from their new bands to help record.

ok, I used to know this really well... Andy Wood, along with Jeff Ament, Stone Gossard and Mike McCready were in the band, "Mother Love Bone" which was half of the band "Green River" after it broke up. (the other half formed Mudhoney)

When Andy Died, Cornell and his drummer... what's his name... did a tribute album for him, called "Temple of the Dog" I think Cornell and The surviving Mother Love Bone members wrothe the lyrics and music...

Anyway, Eddie Vedder Joined the band, from California. I think he was a friend of one of RHCP....

Shortly after Temple of the Dog, Vedder, Gossard, McCready and Ament, along with a drummer, started the Band, Mookie Blaylock, (after the basketball player) and changed it after a lawsuit to Pearl Jam...

That's the story I remember hearing, anyway...

They weren't that bad... I kinda liked them, they had a blusey thing going along with your typical grunge sound

Temple of the Dog was great. Most of the songs were sung by Eddie Vedder.

Mother Love Bone was also very good.
Who doesn't like "Chloe Dancer/ Crown of Thorns"? I'm far from religious...but "Man of Golden Words" is a beautiful song.

I think I'm going to have to watch the movie 'Singles', now.

i was a huge Temple of the Dog fan. i actually have the CD in my car player now. Call me a Dog and Say Hello to Heaven are my favorites...then Hunger Strike.

I wasn't big into Mother love Bone, but the song Cloe Dancer/Crown of Thorns(not sure of the spelling) I liked alot.

nooooooooo they werent... he only sang lead on hunger strike. chris cornell wrote all the music and lyrics and sang on most of the songs... eddie vedder just got pulled in at the end to sing backup in the studio, he really had nothing to do with the whole seattle scene

I never liked Mother Love Bone. Andy Wood sounds like a girl to me. I liked Temple of the Dog, and Missy is correct in saying that Cornell was the main singer on all of the songs except for Hunger Strike. I thought Andy Wood wrote some of the songs before he died, but I might be wrong on that part.

Missy beat me to the answer. Nice!

Mother Love Bone was one of my favorite bands ever. I still remember reading about Andrew's death as I walked home from school. Nothing like getting the news a month after it happened back then. Internet? What's that? Anyway, I feel as if MLB was very underrated and honestly, I am glad they didn't blow up becasue it would have just ruined them down the road like what happened with Pearl Jam after a while.

Drums, Percussion: Matt Cameron
Lead Guitars: Mike McReady
Rhythm, Slide, Acoustic Guitars: Stone Gossard
Bass: Jeff Ament
Lyrics, Vocals, Harmonica, Banjo: Chris Cornell
Backing Vocals: Eddie Vedder

There was also Malfunkshun with Andrew Wood on vocals and I never heard them except that they were not all that good.

MLB had some raucous tours with The Dogs D'Amour back in the day. Drunken Brits and depressed Seattler's makes for good times.

i'm always far too late these days...

i really like temple of the dog, i wish they were a real band and put out more than just the one album.

there was a lot more of that sort of thing back then, where members of different bands would get together to record one album, while still being in their original bands. temple of the dog was probably my favorite of these. mad season was pretty good, too - if i recall correctly, that was layne staley of alice in chains on vocals, mike mccready of pearl jam on guitar, martin barrett of the screaming trees on drums, and some other dude playing bass. also, i know they weren't very popular, but i kinda liked talk show's album, as well (i think that was just all of stone temple pilots with some other guy on vocals while scott weiland was putting out 12 bar blues).

but i'm getting off topic...

Mad Season kicked hiney. I miss Layne Staley. Talk show was ok, nothing special, just ok. Lead singers name was Dave Coutts. Saw them open for the Foo Fighters and they did a kick-ass version of Prodigy's "Breathe".
