It talks about Klee probably quitting, Johannson already has. And McPhee might even think about lettin Jagr go.
I would gladly exchange Jagr for Selanne.

Johannasson has not quit, he may.
Klee is a free agent this summer, and we may not pay for his 3 mil tag.
Bondra is throwing a fit, but we own his ass, he may want to leave but he probably wont.
Jagr will be traded for, either draft picks, young stars, but first we have to find a team who wants him. Detroit, Rangers, Philly or Atlanta. I wouldn't be surprised to see Kovalchuk or Heatley.
Jakob Cutta, Brian Sutherby, JF Fortin and Nolan Yonkman will be come regular players in the Caps orginazation next season.
The whole reasons the caps are cutting payroll is because they want to make the team younger. The older players do not respect Cassidy and in order to keep the team from falling into choas, they need to get rid of the vets.

They should trade him to the Rangers for a sack of peanuts, just like the Penguins did with Kovalov.....I would love to watch the Rangers fail next year with the same exact team plus Jagr, it would just make it that much more fun to watch.

Johannasson has not quit, he may.
May I correct you?
According to a report in The Washington Post on Tuesday, Johansson said he will not return to Washington next season, opting to test the unrestricted free-agent market after playing 982 games for the Caps since being acquired in 1989
From this article: <p><a href="http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/playoffs2003/story?id=1542379">Johansson not coming back</a></p>

Not exactly....Leonsis said they have increased the payroll the last couple of years and have not generated the fan buzz they would like to.
Also, Johansson is backing off his comments a lil bit, he's gonna test the FA waters a lil bit, and see what he can get out there.
I doubt Klee comes back. Hes a good hitting young D man, and someone will probably pay him what he wants out there.
I read today Bondra would love to stay in DC and finish out his career...
No way Atlanta would give up Kovalchuk or Heatley for Jagr...that would be the stupidest deal ever. Why would you trade one or two young superstars you could build a team around for the next decade for a guy getting into his mid 30s with nothing left to play for except money?

it said he had a talk with Cassidy and that he has made no final decisions. But its most likely he will leave.
Leonsis's excuse is shallow, cutting the payroll my ass. Cassidy can't control veterans who are believers in Wilson's system, the best way to make sure there are no confrontations, get rid of the trouble makers.
I mean sure, they DO want to cut payroll, but they also want a younger team to build a dynasty, they can't do it with Cassidy, and thier high priced old players.

You could put Jagr, Iginla, Sakic and Forsberg and have Brodeur and Kolzig as their goalies and they would still not make the playoffs.

most teams who lost money or made little this season will slash payroll, take their lumps for a year and wait for the shit to hit the fan at the conclusion of next season when the current collective bargaining agreement ends. Teams with the dough will grab up every good player in sight, in attempts to get their name on the cup in 04.

Yet.....
The only reason Lemieux played this year was because attendance was sagging and that was the only way to bring back the fans.
