Fox 5 news reported that the yankees are the most favorite baseball team in America. According to the polls, 17% voted the yanks as Americas team. 11% voted for he braves and 6% for the mets. Hey met fans, at least they didnt finish dead last in these standings. Nevertheless, your team still sucks

I hate the Yankees.....
Here's a typical Yankee fan.....I asked him who they were playing today....his response.."who cares"9did't know).....I just wonder how many other bandwagon jumpers there are.

I'm a Mets fan and will never jump off the sinking ship....

ok the yankees are americas team just like the lakers are americas basketball team...

it doesnt matter what a hick out in oklahoma thinks.....it really doesnt. u can think your team is americas team all u want....but those of us with intelligence and taste know the difference......

besides what bullshit is this about americas team?
america doesnt have a team unless its the world cup or olympics..........every major city has their own teams.....so how is it conceivable that the yankees are americas team.......to say that is to imply that most of the denizens of this country love the yanks........i dont think u can find a yankee fan in boston, or tuscon, or anaheim, or la, or any intelligent new yorker. thers no such thing as americas team.....so dont even use that .

Sounds about right. Being a real Yankee fan I can't stand the ones who did jump on the bandwagon.

It's probably the people who don't watch baseball that make up a lot of Yank fans. "Who's your favorite team?" "Eh, I guess the Yankees, they always win."

Yankees are Americas Team

As a real Yankees fan, I have a big problem with this title. The possibility of being likened to the ilk of the Dallas Cowboys makes me want to projectile vomit.

But, since the Yankees are the most successful franchise in sports, & since George writes paychecks to people from all corners of the globe...let's go with "Earth's Team" and avoid any accidental comparisons.

I hate bandwagon fans

I second that emotion

ps: Mondesi is looking good so far, but if he slips up by June, I say we give Pat Sheridan a call & see if he's busy this summer.

There's no such thing as "America's team" in any sport anymore. Just as the Yanks were mediocre in the 80's and then won championships in the 90's- 00's...they will at some point be losers like any other team.

If you don't think so...take a look at the Tampa Bay Bucs. They used to be one of the worst ranked franchises in any sport. The Yuckineers. This year they won the Super Bowl. Anything can and will happen in sports. Sometime we all will say...hey look how good the Devil Rays are...or How bout them Clippers. It all comes full circle.

Now you've gone too far!

Besides, Salas will always be jealous of Rick Cerone because he never got to catch the rotation of Ron Guidry, Phil Neikro, Dennis Rasmussen, John Montefusco, & Ray Fontenot. And in the one year he did start, he only caught a shell of the Ron Guidry (in his last year) that he dreamed all his life of being a battery-mate with.

and i'm willing to bet AT LEAST half of those people are just dirty frontrunners (same thing about the braves fans, but they're trying to be more secretive about being frontrunners). The title of America's team is instantly an opening to call the fans of said team frontrunners. So don't be too proud. And i liked Superclerk's comment about "America's team" only having 3 Americans in the starting lineup. Because honestly i think the Expos playing in San Juan will open thge flood gates of Caribbean and Central American cities asking for franchises. So get ready for the Havana Heat, the Dominican Dynamite, and the El Salvador Matadores.......

Of course I rooted for the Diamondbacks over the Yankees. I also rooted for the Angels last year. And the A's, Red Sox, Braves, Padres, Indians, Rangers and any other team they played in the playoffs or the series. That doesn't make me a front runner. I could care less about these teams otherwise. I just want to see them beat the Yankees. Hell, I even rooted for the Mariners to take the Yanks out in 2000. I didn't give a shit about seeing a Subway Series. I was going to root for the Mets no matter who they played.

That's bullshit. Total double standard. I rooted for the Angels in the WS. Why? because they were both California teams, my heart wasn't involved, and I felt the Angels were a better team. I had no bitterness because they beat the Yankees, they deserved to beat the Yankees, because they were the better team, but as a Yankee fan, you don't admit that until the series is over... My heart is in New York City.I will never root against a NY (metro area) team in the playoffs.

Baseball also happens to be the only sport I can stand to watch with any regularity. I will pick a team in the WS, but if there's no metro team in any other sport's playoffs, I usually won't watch, does that make me a frontrunner? Becauswe I'll say, "Ooh, I hope the Nets win." The Yankees are the only team I have ever or will ever wear on my head or sleeve.

Thanks for rooting against the extra income those extra playoff games would have brought the city last year... Give up the personal vendettas and bitterness, you look like babies.

I can't see how you can do this. You would never catch me rooting for the Yankees or for the NY Rangers ever again. Every Yankees fan I know would not root for the Mets if thier life depended on it. I have a group of teams that I like. but when it comes to the Yanks, I'll root for anyone. I even had no problem whatsoever roting for the Braves in 1999 even after Kenny Rogers walked in the winning run in game 6 of the Mets-Braves that year. Even in hockey. I don't know any Islander or Ranger fan that would root for the other if their team is gone.

All you Yankee haters are starting to piss me off. Sure they use their money to their advantage to bring in talent. Who the hell wouldn't?

And why are you so angry? Because your teams can never win and just get beat down? Besides pitching most of the team wasn't even brought in by money.

Bernie and Jeter were both brought up threw the minors and had nothing to do with money. Clemens and Mussina were both bought, but Andy Pettitte wins a lot of games every year and isn't exactly thought as on the same level as Randy Johnson.

Plus bringing in Hideki Matsui was a smart move too.

How are the Yanks not the enemy? I admit, it was very hard to root for the Braves. But I had to. It was a Mets fans worst nightmare come true. Granted, I didn't sit in front of my TV decked out in Braves gear. I just wanted them to win over the Yanks. I just hope that I'm never put in this situation again. As a Yanks fan, the 1986 World Series was awful. It turned out to be a classic, but I couldn't watch. I was a confused little 12 year old, in the middle of a crisis, just hoping God would answer my prayers & find a way to make both teams lose.
