God bless you? Just 'Bless you'? Gesundheit?

I always say 'Bless you' when I hear someone sneeze whether I know them or not. I know it's just a superstitous tradition but I can't help it. And it kind of bothers me when people don't say it to me when I sneeze. I know it's weird but I guess I just think it's the polite thing to do.

Well I guess most people say it. Some people I know won't say it either because they didn't growing up or they think it's silly because of the origins of the phrase.

I've been sneezing a lot lately and it drives me crazy when people acknowledge it. People from far away will come over to say "God bless you, gazundeit (sp), etc." Why?

I never say anything when someone else sneezes and if someone does say it for me I NEVER say Thank you. EVER. I just give them a look like they are the dumbest person I know. Yet they still say something the next time!

Well, according to Milhouse, when you sneeze, that's your sould trying to escape, and saying God Bless You crams it back in......but to answer the question and go away from the Simpson's reference, I just say bless you......(Worst.. explanation.. ever)

my teacher in 8th Grade, Sister Henrietta had this theory when someone sneezed at the end of a point she was making then the sneeze confirmed her point was true...

i used to date this guy who got scared everytime he sneezed. he would sneeze, and then it would take him a few seconds to recover afterwards. shockingly, he got teased mercilessly for it.

my best friend would squeeze his nostrils shut when he was sneezing... it hurt me just to look at it... I kept thinking parts of his brain were gonna blow out of his ears...

if i sneeze around people i will almost always say "Excuse Me"

then after that if i don't get a Bless You I go after their family...
