I Do NOT know how I got these things popping up all the time BUT I have an enormous amount of pop ups on almost every page I go to.

Does anybody know how to get rid of these things?

Is there a program or something?

go to cnet.com and put in the search pop up stopper. i've used it for about a year and its worked great for me. you have to disable it to view things like email, but its much better than the popups.

I have a Mac and I use Safari. No pop-ups.

Otherwise, do a google search for "pop-up blocker". You'll find links to many many many pop-up blockers.

You could also try turning off Java, but that means that certain otehr aspects of web-pages will not work correctly. Up to you.

you should do a run for spyware also. that can cause pop ups on almost every page you visit.

go to download.com

download adaware and run it

I use POW! for pop-ups and Spybot for my spyware. They both seem to be working pretty good.

I notice though that pop ups show up where you cant find the X or close box and they are so camoflauged in there you have to sit through the advertisement all the while you are looking to get rid of it.

My POW! works only when you insert the pop up address intot he program and then it will shut it out if it tryies to come on again. The nly thing that sucks is that there was this ebay pop up home page and everytime it would pop up as the same address at first but it would have a different 11 digit number at the end of the address and there was no way to access my IE menus or toolbars. Very VERY annoying.

Nothing new, run ad-aware to get rid of all the little nasties hiding out on your computer. Get a good, free pop up stopping program and that should take care of most of them. If I get to a point where they just kep coming up, I use my firewall prog, ZoneAlarm, it's a good firewall and there is a free version available . I use it shut down all internet activity temporarily while I close the Pop Up windows. It's stops them from opening the new ones. It works .

I tried a few, and I like pop-up stopper the best.

I haven't expereinced any problems with recieing e-mail at all. The only disadvantage I can think of is that you must hold down the control key if you want to open up more than one web page simultaneously.

Ad-Aware is phenomenal. 5.0 was great, but the new 6.0 is outstanding. You'll be shocked by the crap you have on your computer and the way advertisers snoop on you.

i use Pop-up Stopper from Panicware. Their current free version isnt as good as previous ones because more options are grayed out. the Mozilla web browser will do the same job.

for those running Adaware, i really suggest moving to Spybot. Adaware doesnt catch as much and returns false positives.
