I was only 5 years old. But I've always been fascinated to hear what those who are old enough to remember when it happened were doing and how they reacted.

I was working a 4 to 12 in the South Bronx that night and heard about it before the news services broadcast it. My buddy worked Mid-town and gave me a call about it.

I was walking around the local mall with my parents when some hysterical hippy was going up to strangers in order to tell them the news. I remember,even as a child, some of the impact it had upon the adults. Even my father was stunned and he didn't even like the Beatles or Lennon.

I was riding the school bus. This kid Frankie was talking about something important, so I asked what happened. The bus had just stopped on Elm Street, and Frankie told me to ask Marc, and Marc told me that John Lennon was shot. And I asked him if he was dead, and Marc said yes.

On a lighter note, Marc is now a urologist.
