I'm a first year graphic design student and I have never really liked working with my mouse in Illustrator or any other programs.

Now with the work load that I'm getting, Is it worth getting one of those digital drawing tablets? and is Wacom the only company that makes them?

As far as I go with my drawings......I have ALWAYS steered clear of any kind of drawing tablet what-so-ever.

The way to go that I use is just good ol basic hand drawn pictures. I scan them into Photoshop and the CONVERT them into VECTOR and then save it as an .ai file which you should know is an Illustrator file.

Any questions or anything shoot me an e-mail and I would be glad to help.

Good luck!

yeah thats basically what i do too but,
I was thinking it might be easier to get a tablet. I don't know how good they are though plus they cost a lot of money i don't have.

The way to go...

I would go fluffernutter's way. I have no idea what he just said, but his pictures are brilliant and an amazing feature of the site.

I've used Wacom tablets for years, they're very good. It takes getting used to, but once you do, and are familiar with the pressure sensitivity of the pen it'll be like second nature to draw, paint, etc.

In some ways I like it better than a mouse, though I still use my mouse for srolling wheel function.
