Alright, so I've decided that if im gonna have to wait till college to buy a new comp, i might as well upgrade this one to accomodate the evolving technology.

I Run..
Dimension XPS T550
Intel Pentium III processor
550MHz
L2 Cache Size 512kb

what I want to know, is if i can upgrade the processor to a Celeron or if you know where to buy faster Pentium 3's. Rather than have to buy all new RAM (i have 586 on this one, SDRAM), id rather get a compatable processor.

Thanks guys.

Buying a Celeron would be a step down from what you have now.

doesnt matter i need processing speed, which i dont have with this anymore, 550 sucks and its not running 550, its goin 525.

As dumb as this might sound your best bet would would be www.dell.com. They have a page where you could by processors seperately and I'm sure you could ckeck compatability with the Dimension your running now.

What's the sense of upgrading the processor if you're still gonna be using SDRAM. Get a motherboard that supports DDR, then start looking for a processor. Computers are way way to cheap to not wanna build a new one.

I can get a Celeron 1.3 GHZ for 50 bucks, if anyone knows if it sucks, tell me, but otherwise it beats the shit outta 550MHZ.

As for DDR Ram, im just gonna wait till college to buy a top of the line comp, no need to make one now.

you'll need an RDAFF to run your CR-ROD. that way your DKFC will speed up you C-RAM to the 3rd power squared.

It's real easy to mistake your LLTDS with your XYZ but unless you're a complete moron you wont upgrade your PLMD to a SRCD lol thats just retarded!

Pantera has a great point, but you have to figure in you QWERTY speed before you upgrade your PLMD to a SRCD. If your running a 4558 khzmg CASSRAM, and you upgrade to a new SRCD, you could throw off the PCCL matrix. That would turn your computer into a paper weight right quick

WAIT!!! Someone help ME!!!

My CD burner has suddenly decided to not work.

In the past week, every time I burn a CD, everything goes fine until the "lead out" part at the end, where it goes idle for a good ten minutes and then finally fails. Doesn't matter if I'm copying a CD or compiling one with MP3's, it's no good. I've tried the test burn, and that goes fine, but the actual burn always fails at the end, and I'm left with a wasted CD.

The thing is I haven't done anything significant to my system recently. I upgraded to Windows 2000 Pro and ahead Nero for my burning software last June, but this problem is just happening now. The only significant program I've added is Adaware in the last month or so. I've made sure my Windows updates are all up to date, and I went ahead and upgraded the drivers for my burner and got the latest version of Nero. Still a bust. Is my almost five-year-old burner finally dead?

Here's the end of the error log...anyone have any ideas?

O yeah, Mojo, it sounds like your gigaDESTX system capacitator needs to be rehashed. But it might be something as simple as a failed Trans-Migr opsys. Either way will cost you big time chedda.

My CD burner has suddenly decided to not work.
Me too and I think my USB ports are busted because I just got a camcorder and my PC won't recognize it being plugged in either.

Grandzu.
This is gonna sound like I'm yanking your chain but have you opened up your box and looked inside? I had that problem when I got my digital camera and the front ports didn't do squat-when I looked - the front ports weren't connected-there was a loose plug there and I connected it-fixed that bad boy-God I'm good!!
