Energy Drinks

OK, it seems Red Bull has begat about 20 different knock-offs. I don't like the taste of Red Bull and it has no energy effect on me (then again I drink like 7-10 Moutain Dews a day), but I still seem to wind up buying it. I like the can. I like the colors, the amount...but the taste to me is cloyingly sweet.

I tried Moutain Dew Amp recently and like it better. Then I tried the Sobe version and this other one with an exotic name.

Anyway, has anyone really gotten a real energy effect from any of these drinks (other than like the caffaine you'd get in a Mountain Dew or a Coke) and does anyone think they are anything but a phenominal marketing gimmick?

I'm not talking mixing it with vodka. Just if anyone noticed "increased energy, mood, performance, etc."

(If I want that I'll play darts ;-) )

I love KMX energy drink, the orange flavor, mostly because it tastes like Orange Slice but I do get a bit of energy from it. I like it when I'm hungover and need a boost but don't want coffee.

in the Gym they have a drink called ThermoSpeed, think it had caffeine and ephedrine(sp?)... made me too hyper like as if i took a couple Stacker II...

in a past life, when I was on a (cough cough) bowling league (cough cough) - thinly veiled reason to get together with friends and drink on a fri night after work - we coined a drink called "a punch in the heart" - basically you chug a coffee when you first show up at the lanes, and then follow up with a beer - gives you quite the buzz and a sort of eerie calm at the same time (plus the pounding heart)

sobe adrenaline rush is good as well.
if you wanted someting other than a marketed "energy drink" try a mainliner. Most likely you will have to explain it to the person at the coffee shop but it cosists of 7 or 8 shots of espresso, that highly caffinated chocolate sludge they put in coffee sometimes, ground up espresso beans, mocha, a bit of frothed milk or cream. The drink is great, kinda burns on the way down.

Myself, I like the green tea for an energizing boost. Either Arizona or Sobe. Both have ginseng in them, I believe, which gives a nice boost. I drank it late night all the time in college.

And they need to re-design the new Red Bull sugar free can. Lighter Blue doesn't cut it. It looks too much like the regular can and I've bought it by mistake twice already.

Stacker 2 and Xendrine both have EPHEDRA in them.. That is why they are dangerous.

I drink Red-Bull sugar free eveyday before I work out and always get a energy boost. I got the same boost from the sugar-free Red-Bull as I did with the regular Red-Bull I like the taste of the sugar-free better.

The Twin lab drink that has no calories along with very little taste sometimes works.
