Holy christ! Do you people actually get time to read all of them? I only get two: PSM and Entertainment Weekly, and I usually pick up a Newsweek.

No time for reading, Dr. Jones. Most of mine are music mags, and I want them for the free CD's and the music reviews. Everything else can go and die.

Read the Economist in the Dr's office the other day. I actually learned stuff about other countries! Think I might subscribe to it soon if for no other reason then to impress chicks.

I get a lot of magazines as a professional discount.

The major downside to subscribing to so many is all the junk mail that I can get associated with it. For each mag that I subscribe to, I request that they do not release my name and address to other entities/mailing lists. I then use a different middle initial when I subscribe, for instance First Name E. Last name for The Economist. If I ever get junk mail addressed to my name with the middle initial "E" I call/write to complain and I usually get one year free.

I started this after I subscribed to Harper's with the middle initial "H". Within 6 months I got 88 pieces of junk mail. Now I have a 3 year free subscription since I sent the publisher each piece of mail in a large envelope. I subscribed because David Foster Wallace is a contributing editor and he is god.

I forgot to mention Harper's, Consumer's Reports and the Atlantic Monthly. I get a lot of magazines. As Cliff would say in True Romance, "I read a lot." After i read them, I usually donate them to the nursing home near my house.

The ones I subscribe to are

Maxim
PC World
National Geographic

Generally I pick the others up in the store.
Magazines like Stuff, FHM, Blender, Food and Wine, National Geographic Explorer and Traveler. Then of course there's the occasional porno mag. Penthouse, Club, Oui, High Society.

I try to cover all the bases.

I should note that I don't actually "subscribe" to any of these magazines...I just get the stripped leftover copies for free from my bookstore...
