View Full Version : We're Going It Alone???
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Thirty governments have agreed to be named in public as supporters of a U.S. invasion of Iraq, and about 15 others are cooperating behind the scenes, the State Department said on Tuesday.
State Department spokesman Richard Boucher said the basic criterion for inclusion of the published list was that the countries wanted to be publicly associated with the idea that Iraq has to be disarmed now. They are not necessarily providing any assistance to the U.S. war effort.
The only allies known to be contributing offensive military forces are Britain and Australia, but the Danish government offered on Tuesday to send military personnel. Boucher declined to say how many were willing to fight.
The 30 governments, together with the United States, represent some 1.1 billion people, about one sixth of the total population of the world.
The list includes no governments in the Arab world, although states in the six-nation Gulf Cooperation Council are giving logistical support to the U.S. forces expected to invade. The only mainly Muslim countries are Albania, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Turkey and Uzbekistan.
On Monday President Bush gave Iraqi President Saddam Hussein 48 hours to go into exile or face an attack that will start "at a time of our choosing."
Boucher said the 30 countries on the list are Afghanistan, Albania, Australia, Azerbaijan, Britain, Colombia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, El Salvador, Eritrea, Estonia, Ethiopia, Georgia, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, the Netherlands, Nicaragua, the Philippines, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, South Korea, Spain, Turkey and Uzbekistan.

I have faith that the United States military can do it alone. I wish it weren't the case, but our armed forces have proven consistently that they can confront any obstacle. I hope that all of us that oppose this war, continue to support the men and women that will fight it on our behalf.
My cousin is stationed in Germany, and is not being shipped out because she is pregnant, but her husband is already there. Neither he or any other soldier, sailor, marine or aviator is alone. They have each other on the field, and their loved ones and fellow Americans back home.

Do any of these countries other than Britain and Spain have militaries worth mentioning? And how could we consider Turkey as supporting us when 90% of their population is against the war? This is list is a PR move, nothing more.

I must admit that a few of the countries on the list are funny.
Ethiopia? Feed your people 1st! Christ!
Poland? They probably meant to say no but ended up sending a check by accident.
AAAAA GE GE GE!

Makes you wonder whether we are paying each of these countries alot of money?
If this was true, i am not sure whether it would be a right or wrong thing to do! It seems wrong on the surface however.

Listen, if Cameroon and Afghanistan throw in 2 BB guns, it's more then the French did. Also, when the war is over (on Saturday) we can invade France with those BB guns.
