I saw this on The Glue Sniffen's message board....
As New York's WNEW runs away from its former talk format, Infinity is programming it in Baltimore. It flips CHR/Rhythmic WXYV-FM to Talk as "Live 105.7". Howard Stern moves to WXYV from his longtime Baltimore home at WJFK-AM and airs 6-11am, followed by Bill Rohland and Steve "The Thrill" Hill (11am-3pm), Westwood One's Don & Mike (3-7pm) and Tom Leykis (7-10pm) and Premiere Radio Networks' Coast To Coast with George Noory (10pm-6am).
I'm a little suprised Infinity is programming Lekis in evenings in Baltimore. That's a PM Drive show and it won't work at night (it sure didn't in New York and that was *before* all the problems started at WNEW). I would have thought they would put Ron and Fez on at night given that Infinity programs the show in D.C.
Anyway...
Question: Why is Inifinity putting a hot talk format on another major market FM station while pulling it off in New York?
Answer: Howard Stern in AM Drive. *Whatever* the reason that didn't happen in New York, it was the single biggest mistake Infinity made with the format here. The sad part was that everyone knew it...

Conspicous by their abscence, naturally are Ron and Fez. But this is only good that Infinity is keeping some torches burning in this format. The way I see it, either Leykis gets dumped(but based on the area, I bet he's a hit). Or perhaps Ron and Fez take over latenights on tape delay, with perhaps and eye toward WJFK, hopefully WYSP latenights, and in a dream world, NY radio overnights somewhere. I apologize if this was already posted at RF.net, but I hadn't seen it and I thought it was big news and some of that hope we are keeping alive!
