I've always noticed that history repeated itself in subtle ways, but this is so glaring.

I wouldn't worry about World War I because of this because this is an internal security matter, besides an ovbious political one for Serbia. However, the way Serbia's history has went, it really should have avoided something so abrupt when still recovering from Milosevic's reign.
I was struck by the possibility of it being some of his renegades, kind of like the Taliban assassinations of current Afghan officlas.

world war 1-These general causes created an atmosphere in Europe which made war a likelihood. The spark which ignited the flame and transformed these underlying problems into a frenzy of hostilities happened in the Balkans. On June 28, 1914, Archduke Francis Ferdinand of Austria was assassinated while visiting Serbia. At first, it appeared to be another Balkan crisis that might pass without a major disturbance, but a month later, Austria severed relations with Serbia, a move that preceded war by only a few days.
now-Snipers assassinated Serbia's prime minister as he walked into government headquarters at midday Wednesday, silencing a pro-Western leader who helped topple Slobodan Milosevic and declared war on organized crime. The slaying of Zoran Djindjic in downtown Belgrade prompted the government to impose a nationwide state of emergency amid fears the Balkan nation could plunge into a violent power struggle
yeah that's what I'm talking about, just for those who don't know history.

i was just saying that it's not like this will start a "world" war. It might start a civil war, but i'm pretty sure of all countries, Serbia was due for one. And even if it had been a foriegn representative, I believe that Europe is too unified to have the same situation happen with alliances pulling everyone into the war. And back during WWI, there were actual German and Austrian empires, so there wasn't much that had to be done in order to conflict with their interests. And also, back then no one was afraid of war like Europe is now. I think i remember reading that Bismarck was waiting for a war anyway. I'm not even sure if Serbia is in the EU, so i don't know if there would be much interest in who would win a civil war anyway.
So yeah........

there are also parallels today with world war 2. The underlying friction in all of todays problems in the middle east is the arabs hatred for the jews. They wish to exterminate Israel and we are hated as an extension of Israel. We are even sometimes refered to as a Zionist state by the Arabs. The mood of today in Europe is also similar as Europe has adopted a policy of isolationism and appeasement which is the same approach they took in the 1930`s toward Adolf Hitler.

I feel dumb now.
Join the club.
I hate to be made to feel stupid and inadequate with MY views just becasue I don't agree and follow the normal wave of conservative thinking. So maybe I should just keep my opinions to myself.
