I was just listening to the soundtrack from The Queen
of the Damned and remembered something I've been
meaning to ask people. Am I the only one who really
enjoyed The Queen of the Damned movie more
than Interview with the Vampire?
The first one was great (though nothing compared to
the book, of course), but it just seemed a little stilted
and pretentious. The second one (also nothing
compared to the book), just seemed more feral and
goddamned sexy. The guy who played Lestat seemed
to be more like who I envision him to be. Playful,
mischievous, and torn between his love of humanity
and his lust for blood.
Anyone with me on this?

i loved them both. I think the first is supposed to be stilted and pretentious, because its told from louis' perspective, and he is a freakin drama queen. The thing about the first that bothers me though is Armand (if you read the book, you'll understand). David was pretty dead on in the second one.
I hope they make a version of Memnoch the Devil

The guy who played Lestat seemed
to be more like who I envision him to be. Playful,
mischievous, and torn between his love of humanity
and his lust for blood I agree about the character. It makes sense though because no one found out about Lestat's true character until "The Vampire Lestat" book. Remember that in "Interview" good old gloomy Louis was telling the story and we never really got a look at Lestat either in the book or the move as the brat prince. And Lestat was VERY blonde in the book. Like Nordic blonde. And while I think that Aaliyah may have been the hottest thing on the planet the movie was average at best and they left HUGE, and I mean HUGE gaps between the book and the movie. So much so that when I saw the movie I was like "What the fuck is going on?" Interview with a Vampire did everything it could to stay true to the vital points of the book. Queen of the Damned just said "Ah fuck it no one will notice" and at the end of the movie I was pissed at the gaping holes in the plot.
What do you want from us? We're EVIL! EVIL!!!!!!

I dont think Queen of the Damned had ANYTHING on Interview wWith the Vampire. QOTD was more aimed towards the younger crowd so they did what the could to make a complete abortion of the book to begin with. I think Stewart Townsend did hold up as a better Lestat physically more in tune with the books version of Lestat but as for the acting and that accent....um no. I almost walked out of the theater crying bc i was expecting to see sequel better then its originator....thats what i get for having hopes

Good points, all. Especially about IWTV being told from
sulky old Louis' perspective.
they left HUGE, and I mean HUGE gaps between
the book and the movie.
Well, QOTD was a huge fucking tome, there was no
way they could put all of that in the movie. I was
disappointed that there was so much missing, too,
about the twins and everything. But all in all, I still
have to say QOTD just really did it for me.

Not to mention the QUTD was a mixture of the "Queen of the Damned" book and also "The Vampire Lestat" no way they could have possible fit everything in that movie

I'm right with you on that.
I know its been said before but why leave out a whole book? And leaving out the twins story took so much out of the movie. I know these are long books but ya know so is Lord Of The Rings and they seem to be doing OK.
