Tax time is due April 15th and i always miss the deadline and end up paying interest and penalties.
who do you people use as a tax accountant? do you use H&R block? are they good? cheap?
i dont have a complicated return - but its nice to use someone who knows all the "tricks".
any ideas?

I've used my Dad's accountant for the last 18 years. I could probably do my own, but I feel more comfortable when a professional "proofs" my return.

Just pick up the computer program "Turbo Tax". I use it every year and it only takes me a couple hours at the most.

When you're filling out your taxes and start getting pissed off, take comfort in the fact that our president's [snicker] "economic stimulus" plan cut taxes for the rich so that richest americans who have 39% of the money only have to pay 35% of the taxes.
have a nice day.

If you are doing the "short form" there isn't much room for "tricks". I now have a very good
pro, but early on , a very popular "theatrical accountant" got myself and a few friends audited. His advice to one of my friends (female) was,"put all your recipts in a paper bag, wear a short skirt and giggle." Who in their right mind would use them again?

39% is the highest TAX bracket in the country so of course the Rich pay the most taxes.

me and my wife just claim ourselves so that we get a larger return...
i just heard that the IRS is beginning to penalize people who do this because they feel they are acting as your bank...
if it's true then i say IRS, Go Suck Some Shit!
:)
if not, then they are really nice people!

Thanks for the info - ive decided to go into H & R Block, ask for the "guy who has the most experience" ( hope he doesnt come out wearing overalls and carrying a plunger) and just have him do my return. Pay the $150 i think they charge and thats one less headache. Taxes suck. Capone had the right idea.
