The real American Idols

Lets give the real American Idols some recognition. The 20year old infantryman digging foxholes, trenchess and filling sandbags in the desert. The pilots who may have to fly over enemy skies in Baghdad and risk being shot down, and all of our military personnel who are facing imminent danger, the ones who battled obstacles over the last 226 years and the ones who did not make it back alive. 99% are not household names, but they are the ones who should be named American Idols. Most people dont know who Dan Daly and Smedley Butler are. Both of these men won 2 Congressional Medals of Honors each. You may be for or against the possible war with Iraq but stand up and support Our Troops

I would not associate War Heroes or Veterans with the word IDOL or with that silly show name. It's demeaning to the Veterans and War Heroes...

Our Veterans are people you should respect, not idolize...

Most people dont know who Dan Daly and Smedley Butler are


Dan Daly was a Marine Gunny who at Belleau Wood in 1917 said the famous line "Come on you sons of bitches, do you wanna live forever?" Smedley Butler was also in the Corps, I believe he was commandant for some time, but I know he led a Marine expedition to Guniea's Station in Virginia to dig up Stonewall Jackson's arm because he didn't believe it was buried there.

Kelly Clarkson and Justin Guarini are, in fact, the REAL American Idols. The are waaaay better singers than those two guys from the Army who, as far as I can tell, didn't even make it into the top ten.

But since you're comparing apples and oranges, it IS safe to say that Justin & Kelly would not last a minute on "American Soldier".
