do majority of grade school teachers do drugs?
becasue I hung out with about 6 teachers last night and they we're doing lines of YEyo and smokeing pot. and when I mean lines I mean HUGE fuking lines.
It just made me think... do I want my kids(when I have kids) to learn from a drugie, alcaholic or a pot head?
shit I know I wouldn't want any kids to have a teacher like me in grade school.
so do majority of grade school teachers get fucked up all the time or majority of it?
erole I think you could help me out with this qustion

I can tell you that through my travels it isn't drugs that
most Pre-K, K, and grade school teachers take - it's
alcohol.
I do know of a handful of teachers that smoke the pot,
but only a handful. Most of the grade school teachers I
know are pretty straight up, clean people. In daycare
or pre-school it's a lot different.
In most daycare/pre-school/Kindergarten situations, a
lot of the teachers are a different breed of person. You
don't necessarily need a 4 year degree to teach (esp.
in Jersey - i dunno about NY), proof of this is on the mail
order/internet degrees you see commercialed on TV.
Your always bound to find Childcare or early education
for an Associates. These places also take in
non-degreed people too...the facilities only need a few
degreed or licenced people to keep the place running.
Hence, more unprofessionals, and a few morons who
smoke and drink way too much.
I know of one person in particular that is working in
daycare and has smoked pot on their hour break and
came back in to work. I know of three others who
smoke frequently and has used the school as a hang
out den after hours.
It's like anything and everywhere else, all types of
people. Your situation is crazy. Lines and shit? Really
bad.
I'll say the majority of grade school teachers are not
like that. But if or when you have children - anyone out
there - always establish a close relationship with the
teacher. You can always tell what they may be doing.
And ask around through other parents and teachers
who you can confide in about your childs teacher.
From my experience I will say a good portion, as much
as 30%, of daycare teachers actively smoke pot and or
drink. When I say drink, I mean to get drunk, and to
smoke, to get high. Grade school teachers are much
much less.
People who teach, teach for a lot of reasons. The best
and only reason is to want to do it, and you love it.
Some people who teach do it because they could not
go any further in their field of study. These English
teachers who wanted to write a novel but can't,
become teachers because there isn't anything else to
do in that field. Teachers like that may suck as a
teacher, and may be depressed or aggrivated with
their life to the point where they drink or do drugs. Ask
those 6 teachers what they really wanted to be...I
almost gaurantee they will not say that they wanted to
be teachers.
I would really love to straighten those 6 people out. If
not, destroy their careers. I take a great amount of
pride in what I do. Hearing about stuff like this, brings
my blood to a boil. Nothing is more important in this
world than the protection, education, and innocence of
our children.

Let me ask all the parents something. If you had to spend all day, 5 days a week, with your runt kid and 29 others just like him, how many drugs would you take?

I've got quite a few artsy/english major friends who eneded up as teachers, and almost all of them drink on their weekends and smoke a little pot every now and then...a couple have been to drop a little E once a month or so...but I've only known them to do it on the weekends or holidays...so I think it really ultimately depends on each person's character and self-control. If these people are getting ripped up the night before school, that is most def NOT cool, and should be stopped by any means necessary.

People dont realize that school teachers work 180 days a year, get 2 months off in the summer and average between 3-5 days off a month

And here I thought this was going to be a nice thread honoring our favorite teachers.

On a side note-- I'd smoke and booze it up if I had to deal with 25 8-year-olds everyday.

Teachers are the same as anyone else. As long as their personal life doesn't prohibit them from doing their jobs at the best of their ability (nor their actions projected upon the students they are teaching) ..who cares if they snort crack, hob nob, or whatever.

erole
03-09-2003, 06:02 PM
i think snorting the crack would slowly waste their
brains and mental reflexes away to the point where
they can not be the best teacher they could be. and if
you want to be an effective teacher and role model
(because teachers are) stay off the god damn smack.
teachers are the upholders of certain truths and also
our country's laws, especially in a public school setting.
to break those laws is to be a horrible teacher. you
can disagree with the law, but not break it. call me a
educational purist.

well fig, i got 2 out of 6...still, i'm surprised those
teachers do that. i suppose it is more of a personal
thing for them. not good if you ask me, and i'd still get
their asses reamed for it. it's like what you said...would
you want your kids in their classroom?

...and all this talk of guns and such...man, i must be one
patient guy.

by the way, if you haven't, check out kings of
comedy...bernie mac's little talk about his own daycare

i might be a parent, if it's my own kid i can tell them i'll tell santa if they're bad and make them be good. i think it will eaisier to control my own kid than someone elses. and if i did have a kid i'm sure my opinion would change drasically.

I was refering to crack or such in a joking matter. But teachers can be held as a higher segment of society, but it doesn't mean they act that way. They are people just like anyone else and hopefully anything they do (legal or not), stays outside of the classroom in order for them to teach children in the highest possible level.

I don't get it. Are people supposed to change their lifestyles just because they are teachers? So what if they smoke or drink? Doing "serious" drugs i can see as a problem, but smoking and drinking shouldn't be a problem.

My 11th grade teacher was a hippie who looked just like Jesus Christ. The hair, the beard everything. And I believe 95% of the time he was wacked out of his brain from smoking pot.

my senior history teacher did coke and weed. i used to catch him during class sniffing off the spot between the thumb and index. i didnt really care though, i didnt do a single homework assignment the entire year and he gave me half credit for all of them so i passed the year.

When I was in daycare, my sister and I would usually be the last ones at the day care because my mom worked until 6. The counselors would play a game called "ashes." They'd pass around a "cigarette" and put money on the table. The point was to not drop the ashes. The last person to put money on the table before the ashes fell would get all the money.

Only recently did I realize that they were smoking weed.

teaching is sort of my family's business. My mother, two of my aunts, and many of their friends are all teachers, so i was surrounded with them as a child. When my mother is sick, I sometimes help to teach her class because even though i have no degree, I still know most of the curriculum (she teaches remedial HS math in the bronx) It is an incredibly grueling job, and I wouldn't befront any of them if they smoked a bowl to deal with the pressure.

that being said, how trippy was that freakin parachute game in gym class?
